While Von is doing his series on Pinoy Top Blogs, I’d like to share some of the data that I’ve mined in there as well. One of the more interesting things I discovered is that Blogger (BlogSpot) is the most popular blog service used by Filipinos, accounting for more than 50% of the sample population.

What’s more interesting is that local blog service provider i.PH came in second at 6.75% although way below Google’s Blogger service.
This is followed by BlogDrive and Wordpess.com at 6.00% and 5.40% respectively. The rest are shown on the table above.
The survey is taken from the current database of members from Pinoy Top Blogs. Of the total registered accounts of just over 1,500 blogs, 533 of them were using free or hosted blog services. Several of the ones included in the list are not really blog services but free hosting services (e.g. fil.ph and dHost.info) with which you can install any blog scripts you want while Pod-o-matic is a free hosting for podcasts.
Blogger’s popularity (6.29%) may be attributed to the fact that it’s one of the oldest running services out there. Although LiveJournal is also a old as Blogger, it hasn’t gain as many users. I guess usage of LJ is waning in favor of the newer ones like WordPress.com and Friendster.

yes we do. yes we do. because blogspot is easy, especially for newbies like me. i also tried wordpress – its much harder yet more sophisticated in style. just to state the difference between the two.
