The $50 People’s PC

Listen to article

Everyone raving about those cheap and affordable PC. There’s the $100 laptop from MIT, then another $149 personal server called KuroBox (266Mhz PowerPC processor, 128MB of RAM, 2 USB 2.0 Ports, and a 10/100/1000Mbit network interface but no HDD yet).

So, I’d like to introduce my own People’s PC for only $50.

Intel Pentium 133Mhz
540MB Seagate HDD
32MB RAM
1 x 3.5″ floppy drive
4x CDROM drive
1 parallel port
2 serial port
8MB ATI Rage PCI card

* keyboard and mouse included.

There are still a lot of them still in use by banks and government offices all over the country. Grab one now at your nearest bodega sale (see one at the Pioneer in Mandaluyong.)

I have one right here beside me. It can’t even run a decent linux installation. Ultra miminal installation siguro pero halos wala kang magagawa dun.
