Cingular, a venture of AT&T Inc. and BellSouth Corp., said it hopes the service will boost revenue, customer loyalty and help its image among young people.

Customers will be able to preview ringtones and buy them on the MySpace Web site, which will then send them to their cellphone. Cingular plans to charge about $2.50 for each 30 second ringtone and will give the bands 25 percent of the proceeds.

The rest of the money will be split between Cingular and InfoSpace Inc., which is helping to create and select the ringtones for Cingular.

Been asking a friend to send me midi and polyphonic ringtones of the song Kumukutikutitap. Apparently this song is still quite popular and a couple of readers have already sent feedback to make it available here. The lyrics and chords for this song is quite popular so I guess they could be looking for ringtones as well.

Crucially, Conrad’s design will be turned into a shippable product which Digital Innovations expects to distribute through its 35,000 retail outlets worldwide.

Rick Mazursky, CEO with Digital Innovations, claimed there will be separate versions for different international markets. He also estimated it would cost around $20 and be totally self-installed.

Apple has apparently cancelled its plan of offering mobile ringtones via the iTunes music store.

“iRingTones”, as we’ll call it, integrated ringtone downloads into the iTunes Music Store, and would have allowed users to remix ringtones before beaming them to the phone via Bluetooth. It was to be a headline feature of iLife ‘06, the annual upgrade to Apple’s digital media consumer suite that receives its annual refresh at the San Francisco show.

Apple has added audio books, podcasts and videos to the iTunes Music Store since it launched in 2003, and is expected to unveil satellite radio integration in the future. The cellular networks charge between $1 and $4 for a single ringtone and obviously don’t want to lose this huge revenue to Apple. Apparently ringtones are their No2 source for data revenue after SMS.

After their incendiary collaboration at the MTV React Now concert, Motley Crue has teamed up with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park to record a special studio version of the classic song “Home Sweet Home.”

The track is available exclusively on MTV and only in digital format delivered straight to your mobile phones. All proceeds go in aid of the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the South Asia earthquake.

The ever so popular Mulawin teleserye will now hit the movie theaters this Christmas. Everybody is excited to watch this movie which stars Richard Gutierrez (also of Sugo) and Angel Locsin (also stars as Darna in the TV series).

Mulawin is a fantasy television series (locally known as telefantasya) which aired in the Philippines through GMA Network from August, 2004 to March, 2005. A movie based on the series will be shown in the Philippines on December, 2005.

The success of the series prompted GMA network to make a spin-off — Encantadia.

The story revolves around the battle between two races of humanoid birds — the Mulawins and the Ravenas. The Ravenas, who were originally Mulawins, want revenge by conquering the world because humans have destroyed their habitat. With the help of the Diwatas, Musangs, Pericos and some humans, the Mulawins must stop the Ravenas from conquering the world. The messengers (sugo), Alwina and Aguiluz, must go to the Mulawin tree to end the conflict as the prophecy tells. Alwina, half human and half Mulawin, is romantically involved with Aguiluz and this become a hindrance to their mission.

As well as being noted as one of the first ring tone cross-over hits, the Crazy Frog ring tone has attracted controversy due to the depiction of the frog character in its advertising. Most complaints about the advertisements centered on the display of the frog’s genitalia. The ring tone is also notoriously irritating.

I used to watch Ang Panday before when it was still Fenando Poe Jr. who took the lead role. It’s one of the few pure Filipino legendary super heroes we have. The new TV series will be coming out real soon casting Jericho Rosales (click here for pictures) and Heart Evangelista (picture here).

“Dragostea din Tei” is the most successful single by the Moldovan band O-Zone. The single was first released in 2003 in Romania, where the group currently lives and produces, and in the spring of 2004 in most other European countries. It was one of 2004’s most successful summer hits, as well as one the best selling singles of the year, across Europe.

Although O-Zone’s version was the most popular across Europe, several other versions of the song have been made, most notably by the small Italian dance act Haiducii, who released the song in Europe at around about the same time. Both have accused the other of taking it without permission. “Dragostea Din Tei” has also become a popular song to parody, as proven to some popularity with Gary Brolsma’s “Numa Numa Dance” video.

Numa Numa is an Internet meme based on the Moldovan Romanian pop song “Dragostea Din Tei” by O-Zone. Specifically, it refers to a Flash-based video of 19-year-old American Gary Brolsma lip-synching the song energetically on his webcam.

The phrase “Numa Numa” comes from the words from a refrain of the song, “nu mă, nu mă iei,” meaning roughly “(you) won’t take, won’t take me.”

There were some edits done on the original mp3 song but the result is a much better remix. To reduce the file size of the outoput mp3 file, I had to compress it again down to 11KHz, 32kbps and mono quality. That reduced the file size to 119KB from 300KB.
