Naturally, the Japanese market is already way ahead of the game. It’s already possible to buy straps which attach to a handset and emit fragrances of Jasmin, wild berries, English Tea and even curry, according to a report on Iconoculture.com.

It shouldn’t take long before handset are able to support different smells for different classes of odour – such as cabbage for the boss and roses for your girlfriend.

The first such products appear to be from a company called Keitai KunKun and take the form of a strap which attaches to the mobile handset.

In a recent survey they made, 68% of preferences, downloading ringtones, wallpapers, sound effects and multimedia games, comes third among the favorite activities of mobile users, equal to taking pictures with the mobile digital camera and preceded in popularity only by calls (98%) and sms messages (98%).

The legal music downloading business has taken a big step forward in recent weeks, and I’m not referring to Apple Computer’s much-touted move to sell videos on its iTunes Music Store. I’m talking about something that got much less attention: the launch of the first legal music downloading service you can access right from a cellphone.

Some cellphones already are able to play songs copied from computers, or streamed from an online radio-type service. And cellphone carriers have long sold snippets of songs as ringtones, which can be downloaded onto phones. But the new Sprint Music Store, unveiled by Sprint Nextel a couple of weeks ago, is the first service that allows complete songs to be purchased and downloaded directly from a cellphone, without a computer.

They say the price is too high? It’s just about a quarter of a dollar here in the Philippines.

I only had the N8210 before. I wonder why the N5110 didn’t made it to the list considering it was the first of smaller phones released by Nokia back in the late 1990’s.
