1. What is Video Messaging?

Video Messaging is a service that allows Globe Handyphone subscribers whose handsets are enabled by the Globe Video Software to capture and send video clips via Multi-Media Service.

2. What phones can support Globe Video Messaging?

The Nokia 7650 with Globe Video Software installed

The Sony Ericsson P800 (please note that this handset only has the capability to receive and read video clips and subsequently forward these as MMS messages)

3. What is required before we can use Globe Video?

Your handset should have at least 700kb free memory space before installation of the software.

To check the memory, go to Menu, choose “Tools,” click “Manager,” then move cursor to the right. To have more memory, delete other applications that are no longer needed such as games, utilities, images, sound clips, etc.

4. How do I capture and send a Video Message?

Go to the Main Menu and look for the Globe Video icon

Press “Options,” “ Open” and select “Record”

After recording, the video will appear on the main page of the Video Cam

To send, select the chosen video with the joystick

Select “Send” then select “MMS.” Send to the number you wish to send it to

*Important information / reminder:

You will not get a “sending” indication when sending the Video Message

When sending a message, a SQUARE appears on the G (top left of the N7650 screen).

Please WAIT for the SQUARE to disappear before sending your next message

Send video messages one at a time. Ensure that the first video message has been sent before sending a new one

To ensure that the video message has been sent, check out the Outbox and “resend” the message when necessary

“Sent” video messages should be erased as soon as possible. This will not only help in ensuring enough memory space but also help in the maintenance of the software as well as the handset.

5. Why is it that there are times when my MMS message gets left in my Outbox and isn’t sent at all?

To be able to send MMS messages properly, you need to disconnect from your WAP/GPRS session. (For N7650 users, you know you’re still on WAP if the “G” found on the topmost, lefthand corner of your screen is enclosed with a square.)

To disconnect from a WAP session and consequently to be able to send an MMS message:

Go to Services, select “Options”, select “Disconnect”

Select “Options” again, then select “Exit”

6. Is it possible to record some audio for the video?

No, the current Globe Video Software doesn’t have the audio functionality at the moment.

7. How long can I record in the Globe video player?

No, you cannot significantly extend the length of the Video Clip. You can only record up to 10 seconds worth of video.

8. Why don’t I get confirmation if my Video Message has been sent? Do I have to wait for an indication?

When Globe video messages are sent, no indication is given that the message is being sent. Once you have entered the phone number or email address you are sending the message to, the software reverts to the main page again. You do not need to keep on re-trying. To check if the message has been sent, go to your Messaging Outbox or Sent Items of your handset.

9. Why is it that Video Messages take longer to be sent/received?

Video clip files are larger (100kb per file) than the usual text files. As such, it currently takes a little more time for the system to process these files.

10. How much does it cost to send a Video Message?

The special introductory rate will be P5.00 per message sent, valid up to March 31, 2003. Rates after March 31 will be announced later.

11. If I send the video clip to another mobile phone without the Video Software, can the recipient view it? How?

Owners of Nokia 7650 units cannot view video clips unless the Globe Video Software is installed in the handset. Those without the software who receive the MMS will get the notification but their handsets will not be able to read the message.

12. Can I send MMS Videos to non-MMS handsets?

Sending of Globe Video Messages is available only to those with Nokia 7650 units with Globe Video Software and the Sony Ericsson P800. Please do not send MMS videos to Nokia 7650 units without the software, other MMS or legacy handsets. We shall soon be upgrading our system to allow viewing of legacy MMS Video Messages via the Web (to be announced when ready).

13. If I send the video clip via e-mail, can it be viewed using any application similar to the Globe Video Software?

If you have configured your handset to send MMS Video via e-mail, your recipient will receive video on PC via e-mail. To play the video, the e-mail recipient needs to download and install the Nokia Multimedia Player which is available on myGlobe website (http://www.myglobe.com.ph/portal/downloads/multimediaplayer_eng_build7.zip

14. How do I retrieve a Video Message sent to me?

Go to “Messaging” in your phone’s menu, select “Inbox” then click on our message. A note notifying that a video clip is inserted in the message

Click on “Options” and select “Objects”. Once inside the “Objects” folder, click on “Option” and select “Open”. The Video Message will automatically be played

15. Is Video Messaging exclusive to Nokia 7650 handsets only?

No. Those with Globe Video Software will be able to send video messages to those with Nokia 7650 with the installed Globe Video Software and to those with Sony Ericsson P800

16. How different is the Globe Video software from others?

Globe Video Software allows subscribers to capture AND send Video Messages via MMS. The others only allow you to capture video but not send it.

17. Why do I have to keep this much memory free in my phone? What if I forget to delete some contents from my phone?

Video Messages take up a lot of memory. Keeping a small amount of memory free in your phone will significantly slow it down and prevent you from taking more pictures.

18. Can I send a video message to more than one recipient at a time?

Yes but it is strongly recommend sending to ONLY 1 recipient so as not to have remaining messages queued in the Outbox.
