Jollibee Scandal: Mascots humping on YouTube

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: October 21, 2006

Apparently, them call center boys and girls spend a lot of their spare time on YouTube. This link was sent by one of them. I don't think Jollibee Corp. knows about this. What can I say? If I may put it eloquently in the words of Mike Abundo, this is why YouTube is huge in the Philippines. :D [tags]jollibee mascot, jollibee sex scandal, disney[/tags]

Say Alonzo on Pinoy Big Brother

Relevance: 43%      Posted on: August 22, 2005

Last night while visiting a friend, I was surprised to hear the name "Say" as one of the housemates on Pinoy Big Brother. It immediately caught my attention and my eyes were glued to the TV for the next 8 to 10 minutes. I wasn't really interested in Pinoy Big Brothers (PBB) even with much of the hype and buzz going around. (I seldom watch TV, much more local channels.) But Say (or Sheryll Ann Alonzo Yutadco?) is there and that got me interested to the show. She's one of the (former) gals in the office. One of the prettier…

Getting hiccups from

Relevance: 32%      Posted on: November 3, 2006

I've been linked by many many times in the past and not one of them caused any of my servers to go down. The best traffic I got from them on a single day is around 12,000 uniques (from Infotech section) and I thought they couldn't give me any trouble like the dreaded Slashdot, Digg, Fark or Boing-boing. Not until today when I got two stories from them in the last 12 hours. One was about the pictures re-posted by Bryanboy on his blog and another about the long-standing Jollibee scandal on Youtube. I'm sure everyone here knows about…

The Philippines takes Twitter Hostage

Relevance: 32%      Posted on: August 23, 2010

We always rejoice whenever something Filipino-related comes out on the Top Twitter Trending Topics but I never realized it would take a hostage taking situation like the one we have right now at the Quirino Grandstand to bring in the all-time spotlight. Chrice Pempenco, Jollibee on Glee, Christian Bautista, PNoy, the UAPP all had their short stint on TT. This time, 4 of the top trending topics are Quirino Grandstand, Mendoza, PNP and Hostage Taker (plus Isko Moreno doing a post-incident scandal). The Philippines has finally taken Twitter hostage. These are events that make the Philippines famous. What a sad…

Google promotes Pinoy porn?

Relevance: 28%      Posted on: October 13, 2005

Just saw one of the ads from Google AdSense promoting Filipino porn? Was a bit shocked that Google would allow advertising about pornography thru AdWords. I took a screenshot of the ad link units here. The ads will show if you go to one specific post I made here about Say Alonzo on Pinoy Big Brother. Just keep on refreshing the page and maybe you might see it as well. However, when you click on the link, you will get this message "Sorry! We couldn't find any ads related to your topic. Please enter another topic below." At least, there…

What will it take for Philippine service companies to read blogs?

Relevance: 26%      Posted on: November 12, 2005

About two weeks ago, Smart's Addict Mobile blog portal was reported as not being filtered for nude pictures. The scandal was posted in numerous other blogs but the AMBlog portal went on its exhibitionist spree. Some newspapers were alerted about this issue but they didn't pick up the story. I guess, Smart's on their top and favored advertiser's list. Or, maybe it's not really worth their while and they'd rather report about a Philippine Senator's proxy-blogging history. Anyway, Max of SunStar Cebu picked up the story in his column "Porn in Addict Mobile's blog portal". And true enough, an official…

It all started with a Careless Whisper

Relevance: 25%      Posted on: July 23, 2009

Effective today, July 23, 2009, the NTC Circular on Push Messaging by Content Providers will be imposed. That means you should not get any spammy SMS asking you to download a ringtone or wallpaper, subscribe to some text or call promo, or join an SMS contest (however, if you are already subscribed, you will still get them alerts). And all these started when Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile discovered his mobile phone was subscribed to a ringtone service and his prepaid cellphone load just vanished into thin air. And the ringtone he got -- Careless Whisper. The rest, they say, is…

ZTE gets 472 complaints with DTI over Sale Fiasco

Relevance: 24%      Posted on: November 10, 2014

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) received a total of 472 complaints against ZTE (and/or its local distributor MSI-ECS) involving the ZTE handset sale that happened last October. This is a according to a source close to someone inside the department. This is perhaps one of the most number of complaints ever recorded, almost in the same level as our local telcos get every quarter. The fiasco stemmed from the failure of the sale of handsets where thousands lined up and only about 300 were actually available (half of which were either hoarded by resellers or employees). ZTE (MSI-ECS)…

Pinoy Big Blogger “Experiment”

Relevance: 24%      Posted on: November 20, 2005

Yeah, everybody's calling it an "experiment". Why experiment you say? Because it's all about "wanting to see, learn, and profit" from search engine traffic for popular keywords. And Pinoy Big Brother is the word these days, and so is Ang Panday. Manolo came back with a vengence to all Pinoy Big Brother bloggers out there, wanting to help political blogs like his regain the top spots in the Philippine blogosphere. Mikey surely did gave him that impression. Benefitting from search engine traffic is not about how good you write about a certain topic, how passionate you are with the issues…
