Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband: Unlimited for Php999!

Got a tip that the recently announced Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband service will be priced at Php999 per month with unlimited usage. Sun Cellular's 3G will use a similar USB dongle. This is so far the cheapest and only unlimited 3G provider in the Philippines. However, since Sun Cellular has just started rolling out their HSDPA network, 3G coverage will be limited to several areas in Metro Manila.

Just found out that PLDT has an online store. Check out PLDTOnline.com which sells anything and everything, including Globe & Sun Cellular call cards. I know this would not be a huge surprise since Sun Cellular is already a member of the PLDT Group but just saw a couple of days ago that Sun Cellular has upgraded its network's signal strength. Sun Cellular caps 2Mbps 3G to 650Kbps

Several readers sent in reports that Sun Cellular is allegedly capping their 2Mbps unlimited 3G internet (Sun Wireless Broadband) to just 640Kbps. While this bandwidth capping has not been official confirmed, a number SWB users have been sharing bandwidth results from their experience that there's indeed some sort of capping going on (using Mobile Data Monitoring Application). Sun Cellular has good news for their Blackberry wielding prepaid subscribers as they recently unveiled their affordable, Unlimited Blackberry Services offers. Starting Friday last week, prepaid subscribers can convert their regular load to UnliBB Service either for PhP50 for 1 day or for PhP250 for 1 week. The biggest IT story of the day is PLDT's acquisition of Digitel which operates Sun Celluar, the 3rd largest telco player in the Philippines. PLDT-owned Sun Cellular has recently announced in their Facebook page the latest addition to their premium handset offering – the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The 5.5-inch handset will be offered under the Plan 1500 with and additional cash-out which, if broken down to a monthly fee, will equate to PhP199.
