iPod prices dropped; iPod Photo, no more.

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: June 29, 2005

Early today, Apple has announced that it has (again) reshuffled it's entire line of iPods. The price of iPod Shuffle 1GB has been slashed by $20, iPod 60GB is down by $50 and the Special Edition 20GB U2 is now $329 ($20 less). I am sure that local prices will follow suit and official iPod stores around the metro will be holding another iPod sale (probably with BPI SIP). Likewise, Apple has now dropped the word "Photo" altogether making the entire series with color screen and able to view photos. The iPod 30Gb is no more while the old 20GB…

Poll: Which iPod are you?

Relevance: 99%      Posted on: August 28, 2008

Reports say that the iPod Nano is the most popular of all the Apple media player line. That's maybe because when it first came out, it was the cheapest iPod at that time. Now that there are more than half a dozen models, I'd like to see which iPod people buy. Thus, the poll "Which iPod are you?" Choices are as follows: iPod Shuffle iPod Nano iPod Classic iPod Touch iPhone I have another MP3 player I don't have one Please head on to out poll section on the sidebar and cast your vote. Also leave a comment on why…

White iPod Touch debuts, skips the upgrade

Relevance: 98%      Posted on: October 5, 2011

Along with the announcement of the iPhone 4S, the iPod Touch also got a minor update with a new White model now included in the line-up. Sadly, there are no hardware upgrades on this one. Was hoping it would get the same specs as the iPad 2 but all they did was paint it all white. The price looks the same in the US with the 8GB model starting at $199, 32GB at $299 and the 64GB at $399. In the Apple Philippines Online Store, the figures are a bit skewed and somewhat more expensive than last year's price. iPod

Sony Xperia Tablet Z official Philippine price

Relevance: 98%      Posted on: July 1, 2013

Just days after we released our full review of the Xperia Tablet Z, Sony Philippines has made the gorgeous 10-inch tablet available nationwide through their concept stores. Read on for the full details. The one that we have for review was a 16GB Wi-Fi only version which currently retails for Php27,500 on e-tailers. On the other hand, Sony’s selling the LTE-enabled version with the same internal storage and they’re asking Php35,990 for it. We’re not entirely sure what to make out of Sony PH's pricing, because the tablet is marginally cheaper in other countries where it was also being retailed.…

Google Nexus S spotted, priced in Greenhills

Relevance: 96%      Posted on: January 23, 2011

One of our regular readers sent in a tip as he spotted this brand new Google Nexus S being sold in a stall in GreenHills. Apparently, this handset is still very rare as the shop is the only one carrying the import at the moment. The grey market price -- Php35,000 (not that very far from the Samsung Galaxy S when it first came out). Our course, if you're in the US you can get this for only $529 (or $572 including sales tax). The price should settle at around Php28k in a few more months once newer handsets arrive…

Galaxy S2 selling for Php38k in Greenhills

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: June 1, 2011

Several units of the Samsung Galaxy S2 have been spotted in a number of phone stores in Greenhills this week, ahead of the anticipated launch this month. Gray market price ranges from Php38,000 to Php40,000. And if you look at the boxes closely, you'll see the 1.2GHz is indicated under the label. The Php38k asking price is a good indication that the SGS2 might be affordable enough once it's officially released in the Philippines since most gray market units are sold at 25% mark-up. We should be seeing a Php30k to Php32k SRP this June. Incidentally, Samsung Philippines also sent…

Apple quietly drops iPod Classic from Online Store

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: September 12, 2014

We saw this coming but Apple has finally given up on the iPod Classic. During the site refresh that Apple did just after the new iPhone 6 was announced, all Apple Online Stores have removed the iPod Classic from their listings. This is literally puts an end to the era of hard-drive-based iPod Classic. The media player has not been re-designed for several years and sales of the iPod Classic have also declined due to newer models like the iPod Touch. There were 6 generations of the iPod Classic (originally just called the iPod) with the latest one having 160GB…

Zune 80 trumps iPod Classic 80?

Relevance: 91%      Posted on: November 19, 2007

Got two similar media players -- one, a highly successful device selling hundreds of millions of units in the last half decade; the other, just barely a year or two but with tons of features. Which one will you choose? There has been much talk about the second generation Microsoft Zune 80 which in almost all aspects trumped the iPod Classic. Same price ($250), same capacity (80GB), the Zune is slightly bigger (4.3" x 2.4" x .5") than the iPod Classic (4.1" x 2.4" x .41"). But, check out the additional features you'd get on the Zune that is definitely…
