Relevance: 100%      Posted on: May 17, 2005

There are good blog days and there are really bad blog days. By "bad blog days", I mean nothing -- nada, nil, zilch -- to blog about. It's a blogger's mind-block. Those days will now be over thanks to Blog-o-Matic, there's always something to blog about. Blog-o-Matic, produces completely random, dynamically generated blog posts which are copyright-free so you can copy it all you want during dry season. And you'll never be out of posts again. :D

Would you read your own blog?

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: April 20, 2007

We did a special episode of the BoBCast here at Punta Fuego. Will publish it when I'm done uploading the MP3 file. One of our discussions there was "If you were just a blog reader, would you read your own blog?" While most of us would immediately shout out a resounding "yes!", I've asked several other bloggers and surprisingly some of them replied they probably would not read their own blog. (This question is different from "do you read your own blog". The question focuses more on the idea that if you were just a blog reader, would you regularly…

Top Blog for Sale: starts at $40k

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: January 12, 2006

Jeremy of Ensight is going to hold an auction for a hugely popular blog that is (almost) always on the Top 100 (except that of Technorati). The blog is still unknown yet to the public but those who are seriously interested to buy it can get additional info from Jeremy. The blog is PR7 with 150,000 pages indexed in Yahoo/MSN and 60,000 in Google. Current earnings for the blog is $2,000 a month from ads so it will take you at least 20 months to get that $40k back. Some speculates the anonymous blog is Google Blogoscoped. If 20 x…

I so envy the m|ph blog

Relevance: 81%      Posted on: December 7, 2005

The m|ph blog is one of the only two blogs that are featured in the front page of Inq7.net (the other one is PCIJ). That alone could have made the m|ph blog one of the most widely read blog in the country right now. I checked their post pageviews and it averages about 3,000 per post and I assume it's much much higher for the pageviews on the homepage. There's a page view counter there (counted 212,113 views) but I'm not sure if it's for the day or for the month. I'd do pretty much anything to get some of…

Is your blog banned from Technorati?

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: March 9, 2007

Was just reading John Chow's blog and how he got banned from Technorati and Digg. This reminded me of a bug (I thought it was a bug) that time I was updating this Technorati Top 100 list a couple weeks back. See, some of the blogs I was checking out at Technorati are no longer showing on the results. Here's what's you'll get when you type in their blog url: The text says "There are blogs, and then there's whatever you just typed in. If it's a blog, we don't know about it. Maybe you made a typo. Or maybe…

Why all the blog-related ads?

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: November 30, 2005

More than half the time, Adsense ads on this blog are displaying mostly blog-related adverts, especially the Link Ad Units. I used to wonder about that and even used the section targetting feature with very little success. Then I realized that becaus eof the contextual targetting nature of AdSense, you'd be hard-pressed to avoid those blog-related ads. The whole site is reaking with the word blog and blog-related keywords. So, I logged-in to my AdWords account and check for the usual suspects if they are being used for the campaign. This gives us the hint that the density of these…

Blog Editor is one of CNN’s 2006 Trendy 7 New Jobs

Relevance: 79%      Posted on: April 22, 2006

Marc blogs about Blog Editors making it to CNN's 2006 7 New Trendy Jobs: Blog Editor: I blog, you blog, we all blog apparently, judging from the proliferation of blogs in the past two years. The success of influential ones like Wonkette.com has companies wanting in on the perceived edginess of the blogosphere. "Blogging" is not only starting to creep into people's job descriptions, but recruiters are starting to see blog-related job listings. One on Monster.com seeks a blog editor "to manage and moderate blogs for clients and to write for the company blog on PR and new media topics."…

“The Blog 500” Challenge

Relevance: 79%      Posted on: August 3, 2005

Jason Calacanis, founder of blog network WebLogsInc, is putting up a $10,000 cash prize (or $50,000 in advertising) for a blog search engine that is way better than Technorati and adheres to all of the points he has outlined in his blog. He made his point clear and asks everyone else to challege Technorati with its Top 100 A-List of blogs. Well, why not Top 500? Maybe someday we'd see one pinoy blog on the A-list too. :D IMHO, The Truth Laid Bear project is a nice place to start with? Any developers out there interested in Calacanis' $10k?
