Davao Blog Party

Relevance: 76%      Posted on: March 18, 2007

Last night's Davao Blog party was a blast! I never imagined Davao has so many bloggers and are actively participating in such offline community gatherings such as these. Finally met several bloggers I've known for a long time but never got the chance to see face to face. Bloggie, the lead party organizer, has the rundown at Ang Dabawenyo. Tha place, Netfront Cafe, was really cool. Really cheap PC rates and free wifi. Yes, free wifi on almost 90% of the hotspots in the city. Thanks, Marc Javellana, for the invitation, to Casa Letecia for the free accommodations, Andrew for…

Just finished a meeting with their Senior Brand Manager along with Jayvee at GB3 and we've agreed on some of the time tables I'm helping coordinate. Since my last post about this, majority of the Davao bloggers have responded positively, we'll do the Davao leg first. Here's the tentative sked: What: Blogger Meetup Where: Davao City (place TBA) When: October 2, 2006 (evening) Who: 10 Davao Bloggers We're limiting the participants to about 10 to keep it small and manageable. Those who have already…

Podcasting in Davao

Relevance: 69%      Posted on: March 17, 2007

Tonight's the Davao Blog Party! We're currently here at Casa Leticia in the heart of the city of Davao thinking of some really good title for a new podcast project hosted by me and Jayvee. (Special thanks to the Casa for the free accommodations.) The first one we did in Puerto Galera a couple weeks back was good (The Bugged Cast) and we're listening it it right now trying to strike off some stuff that doesn't need to be disclosed to the public (like Jayvee's new love interest or Marc's upcoming wedding). *hehehe* So, we're going to do a new…

Davao taxis now accept fare payments via on-board ATM

Relevance: 66%      Posted on: July 8, 2012

Technology is slowly changing/improving the way we commute. In the past, we (commuters) are already contented with radio, on-board TV and air conditioner (which sometimes can do more harm than good). But with the boom of wireless technology in our country, other added services like on-board Wi-Fi hotspot and now cashless commuting through wireless payment terminals are now made possible. Based on experience, Mabuhay Taxi drivers noticed that there were unavoidable instances that they don’t have change for big amounts and/or passengers sometimes doesn’t have cash with them when they leave their flats so they ask drivers to do a…

Want a Call Center job?

Relevance: 62%      Posted on: July 13, 2005

Update: Go check out our list of Call Center Job openings here! If you are looking for a job at a Philippine Call Center, leave a comment. I will refer you to an (HR) friend in Convergys Philippines. I cannot guarantee that you automatically land the job, though. You still need to get thru the proper channels and pass the examinations. This is also open to those already working as call center agents or tech support but wanting to transfer to the prestigious Convergys family. ;) Likewise, if you know someone who might need the referral, just point them to…

Facebook rolls out App Center

Relevance: 60%      Posted on: August 2, 2012

You might have noticed that nagging notification on Facebook all day yesterday. Well, it seems like Facebook has just rolled out the App Center. Both desktop and mobile apps are now available in the App Center. This new feature used to be available in the US (and a few more countries) since June but is now rolled out to other countries (internationally) such as the Philippines. The App Center is probably Facebook's way to get more people to use and stay on Facebook, both on their PC as well as their mobile phones. Remember that in the early days of…

Several bloggers down under are organizing a Davao Blog Party on March 17, having successfully done a second meetup last week. I've been invited to fly down there and the invite's too good to pass up. I haven't really confirmed attendance but I'm more or less convinced to go. If any of you down south want some action, go check them out. :)
