Why I had my Cable TV cut off?

Relevance: 66%      Posted on: January 14, 2007

I had my Cable TV subscription cut off the other day. I signed up for it on an annual rate of Php3,000 only last year so it was a good deal then. When they came back to me on the 13th month, it was already Php600/month. I said I think it was too expensive and I think we have to discontinue our subscription. Likewise, there are other things I considered... I used to watch the news on TV. Now, either I read them over the net or listen to streaming radio. There were some really good TV series that I…

Undersea cable in Southeast Asia breaks, causes slower internet

Relevance: 66%      Posted on: September 23, 2014

Having slow internet lately? Bad news of the day: Internet speeds all across Southeast Asia have been significantly reduced due to a broken undersea cable in Vietnam. One major underwater cable, the AAG or Asia-America Gateway, that connects Southern Vietnam to Hong Kong was cut on September 15. AAG is a 20,000-kilometer communications cable connecting Southeast Asia to the United States via Guam and Hawaii. It is also the primary source of connection for most of Vietnam's telecommunication systems, as AAG is carrying most of the capacity and Vietnam only has four submarine internet cables to boot. Telecom authorities say

ZPDee Cable at 64Kbps for P690?

Relevance: 61%      Posted on: November 15, 2005

Just read about this ZPDee Cable connection offering broadband speed at narrowband price -- Php690/month. That's like your regular dial-up connection speed. For an additional Php200, you get double that speed (and another Php200 to quadruple that speed). Not bad, almost the same price for Smart Wifi connection. If you will remember several years ago when ZPDee first offered their broadband cable service, they were charging by bandwidth overage. It was around Php100 per 100MB or something? Broadband is getting really cheaper now. Signs that dial-up will soon be a thing of the past? [tags]skydsl, broadband, digital subscriber line, dsl,…

5 reasons why we still keep a cable subscription

Relevance: 60%      Posted on: August 16, 2015

Recent surveys indicate that a growing number of population is turning their attention from regular TV and shifting to other screen. Majority of the shift is directed towards internet-based screens -- smartphones, tablets and computers with on-demand services. After not having over-the-air and cable TV for about 10 years at home, I decided to subscribe to cable plan from Sky (I pay around Php700+ a month to hook up two TV sets which is a little cheaper than the Php500 a month Destiny Global I used to have over 10 years ago). Aside from the fact that I was looking…
