Asus Zenbook UX31 Review

The first time I personally saw the Asus Zenbook, I knew it would be my next laptop (the last two I bought were all Macbook Airs). And while ultrabooks are still in their infancy stage, they’ve already sparked interest and awe to the point of being an aspirational device. I’ve been using the Zenbook UX31 for a couple of weeks now and have actually made it my primary laptop without much hesitation. Check out our full review of the Asus Zenbook UX31 after the jump.

With so many platforms and so many devices to choose from (Android, iOS, Symbian or Windows Phone 7), some things remain the same. Some names are familiar (like Qualcomm or NVidia Tegra) while others are seldom mentioned, like Corning.

Poll: Who makes the best Android phones?

Almost everyone is jumping into the Android craze and it has done a lot of wonders for many manufacturers. I would even hazard an opinion that Android significantly propelled some handset brands to the level of success they now have. Some do it right, while others still have to work harder.

Honda CBR 150R is my new dream gadget

For the last 2 or 3 weeks, I have been setting my eyes on this big, sporty motor bike — a Honda CBR 150R so when I learned I’m joining Ford to go to the Bangkok Motor Show, I was pretty excited as it also offered a closer look at the CBR line.

HSDPA laptops in 2007

I mentioned this to the girls over at Globe the last time we had a thanksgiving dinner. Since Laptops with built-in HSDPA cards are starting to come out, would it not be a good marketing idea to bundle these rigs with SIM cards.

HP is coming out with one model, Compaq 6400, while Lenovo is partnering with Cingular to do the same. Dell signed a deal with Vodafone to offer the same 3G-ready laptops (Dell Latitude D420) and I think Acer has one too.

If them telcos can easily snag new customers by bundling cellphones with postpaid plans even at very expensive plans (Php5k a month and up), it’s also possible to bundle laptops with the same postpaid accounts. Globe tried it last month with a ThinkPad + HSDPA Card + Samsung Z560. I suggested they could do this on a permanent basis.

Telcos selling laptops aside from cellphones? Why not?
