Xiaomi trumps Samsung, now the leading phone-maker in China

Being at the number one spot since 2011, Samsung loses its title to Xiaomi as China’s leading smartphone-maker. Research firm Canalys reports that phone distribution during the second quarter of 2014 shows that Xiaomi tops at 15 million handsets while Samsung tails behind at only 13.2 million devices.

The Japanese government has just passed a law that makes it illegal to download copyright materials. The Anti-Downloading Law imposes a 2-year jail term and a fine of 2 million yen (or around $26,000).
