Amazon to ship Kindle to the Philippines

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: October 7, 2009

Amazon has just announced it will make the Kindle available world wide with an international shipping to over 100 countries, including the Philippines. The Amazon Kindle (the 6" international GSM version) will retail for $279 or just over Php13,000 at current exchange rates. Of course, this does not include customs and other taxes. For the Philippines, it will be available for shipment on October 19 but you can pre-order it now. The map below shows 3G (dark purple) and EDGE/GPRS (light purple) coverage for the Philippines. Accessing this network via the Kindle will be free. There are no monthly fees…

Shopping at Amazon from the Philippines

Relevance: 91%      Posted on: April 10, 2006

An old high school friend sent me a text message asking if I had any experience with shopping at Amazon and how to go about it when you want the goods delivered into the country. I actully don't have any Amazon-shopping experience so I can't help him either. I have a $200 gift certificate there hanging around and waiting but from what I've read on their site, Amazon doesn't deliver in Asia (except for books). I thought the only way around it is to have the package shipped to a friend or relative in the US then have them send…

Amazon Kindle 2

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: February 10, 2009

The 2nd generation Kindle from Amazon is now official and is available for pre-order for $359. Oprah surely did help boost sales of the e-book reader. Although the upgrades are not that record-breaking -- 2GB storage for up to 1,500 books, 25% more battery life, better display -- it sure doesn't hurt that this model is thinner (9mm) and lighter (289 grams). The best new feature I guess would be Read to Me which is a text-to-speech feature that reads the e-book (and blogs, magazine, newspaper) for you. But then again, this is one of those gadgets we'll never get…

Revisiting Amazon Associates

Relevance: 79%      Posted on: October 12, 2006

About a year ago, I started playing with Amazon Associates plugin for Wordpress to add affiliate links to several posts that I have. These affiliates would be mostly about gadgets like iPods and digital cameras. Back then, I thought that most of my traffic were local or coming from the Philippines so running Amazon affiliate ads wouldn't do much good. Besides, your site or blog should be product-centric to be able to attract the buying kind of surfers. Nevertheless, I'm a bit amazed to learn that during the course of the entire year, some of the affiliate links I've added…

Amazon Kindle Publishing for Blogs

Relevance: 77%      Posted on: May 15, 2009

Amazon has now opened its Kindle platform to bloggers, allowing them to submit/publish their blog to the network for subscription. Now you can make money from Amazon once people subscribe to your blog via the Kindle. You will get paid 30% of the monthly blog subscription price for every subscriber to your blog. As for pricing of the subscription fee, Amazon will be the one putting a fair value for it. There's a catch though -- even if you publish your blog on Kindle, payment options only allow EFT and check to a US address. Nevertheless, it would be good…

So far no further details have been leaked but let's wait for tomorrow's event to find out if we're going to see more than…
