What does Steve Jobs give in return for the hundreds of thousands of Apple fanboys who lined up and bought the iPhone eleven weeks ago? A $200 price cut to those who didn't fall in line. Now, that's a PR disaster Apple didn't expect from yesterday's announcement. Last June, Apple first introduced the iPhone at $599 for the 8GB model. Yesterday, Steve Jobs announced it's going to discontinue the 4GB $499 model and the 8GB is cut down to $399. In just over 2 months, Apple dropped the iPhone price by almost 33%. A lot of the people who lined…

Relevance: 82%      Posted on: December 17, 2010

Apple today officially released the iPad in the Philippines. The Apple Philippines Online Store are now selling them, starting at Php23,990 for the entry-level WiFi model. You should see units on display on local Apple Resellers as well with the same pricing as the online store (Apple's very strict about pricing). However, if you're looking to get some educational discounts, the iCampus Store in Ateneo offers them a bit lower. If you order them online, it will take 3 to 5 days shipping. However, you also have the option to have it laser-engraved thru that channel. We did a little…

Relevance: 82%      Posted on: July 1, 2013

Just days after we released our full review of the Xperia Tablet Z, Sony Philippines has made the gorgeous 10-inch tablet available nationwide through their concept stores. Read on for the full details. The one that we have for review was a 16GB Wi-Fi only version which currently retails for Php27,500 on e-tailers. On the other hand, Sony’s selling the LTE-enabled version with the same internal storage and they’re asking Php35,990 for it. We’re not entirely sure what to make out of Sony PH's pricing, because the tablet is marginally cheaper in other countries where it was also being retailed.…

Apple to open Online Store in the Philippines?

Relevance: 82%      Posted on: September 30, 2008

A tip from a source close to distributors hinted that an Apple Online Store is in the works to cater to Philippine consumers. Could apple.com.ph be launching real soon? The source reveals that Apple would not allow resellers and distributors to sell any Apple products online. Apple is strict about this and violation could result to a revocation of license/rights. However, this doesn't prevent small-time sellers to offer iPods, Macbooks and other Apple products on their sites, blogs or Multiply accounts. In our region, only Hong Kong and Singapore have online Apple Stores. Maybe the demand for iPods and other…

Apple’s Red Friday Sale skips the Philippines

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: January 6, 2012

Contrary to earlier reports, Apple Philippines is not included in the Red Friday Sale that Apple is holding across most of South-East Asia's online stores today. Over the past days, numerous reports that Apple Philippines will host a Red Friday Sale today seems untrue. However, the sales did happen in other Asian neighbors, including Hong Kong and Singapore with many of the Apple products slashed off their regular prices. The biggest discount seems to be HK$770 or SG$120 applied on all Macbooks and iMacs (equivalent of around Php4,000). Non-Apple products are also up for discounts with a Bowers & Wilkins…
