Bayan Broadband offers EVDO at Php699

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: January 21, 2010

Bayan Broadband is now offering a new wireless internet plan on their CMDA network that starts at a low price of Php699 per month. The service comes with a USB dongle similar to Globe Tattoo, Smart Plug-It and SWB only that it's not on 3G but EVDO. The broadband service plan includes: Plan 256: Php699/month @ 256Kbps Plan 512: Php999/month @ 512Kbps You need to buy the USB dongle too at Php999 and be locked into the service for 24 months. The service is also limited to several cities in Metro Manila - QC, Makati, Manila, Las Pinas, Mandaluyong, Pasig,…

Bayan Broadband 512 Speed Test

Relevance: 99%      Posted on: February 2, 2010

We're able to get a review unit of the new Bayan Broadband 3G service. Their claim of TrueSpeed is hinged on the promise that they can deliver true 512Kbps EV-DO to your home as long as the signal is strong. The device is similar to the USB dongle you've seen with Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular. The modem is made by ZTE and the design series is the same as the one by Smart (the UAAP/NCAA series). Unlike the other telcos though, this one doesn't seem to have a SIM card in it. All I did was fire up the…

BayanTel offers 3Mbps at Php899, 15GB cap

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: April 13, 2011

So there you go -- another ISP offering capped plans on a faster pipe. I'm sure a lot of you have seen those big billboard ads while plying the roads of Metro Manila. BayanTel has a special package of 3Mbps BayanDSL for only Php899 a month. That same monthly fee is equivalent to their 768Kbps plan with unlimited bandwidth. So if you think you don't consume that much amount of data a month, you'd be better off with the capped plan. But then again, if you think 15GB isn't enough, the 768Kbps plan is still available for the same Php899…

A quick lesson for “Sigaw ng Bayan” on web stats

Relevance: 78%      Posted on: April 28, 2006

Manolo points out the claim of Sigaw ng Bayan (www.sigawngbayan.com) representative Raul Lambino (People's Initiative) that their site got 9 million hits in the first 3 weeks that it was up (yes, a 3-week old website!). A screenshot of their website 3 days ago showed a "bandwidth exceeded" notice. Dean Jorge Bocobo follows it up with a deeper scrutiny of the site's profile on the net and its exposure on the search engines. The Village Idiot Savant got a good laugh and even wrote Inq7.net to humor Ms. Belinda Cunanan who originally mentioned about the stats in her column. It…

Sigaw ng Bayan defends their web stats

{ from Inq7.net } Remember the alleged 9 Million web hits calimed by Sigaw ng Bayan two weeks ago? Well, the guy (Raul Lambino) responded back to Mrs. Cunanan about the huge debate on the blogosphere. He wrote: “Visitor bandwidth usage averages 2 gigabytes daily for only around 200 pages that compose the entire website so far (one gigabyte is equivalent to one thousand megabytes; to illustrate how big it is, an ordinary floppy diskette is equivalent to 1.4 megabytes). Any website administrator knows that this figure is half the maximum monthly bandwidth allowance of a regular webhosting service. The…

BayanTel sets broadband cap at 100GB?

Relevance: 45%      Posted on: January 2, 2011

At the Bayan Telecommunications official forum, the indicated monthly internet cap for subscribers is said to be at 100GB per month though this has not been completely confirmed since the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) has not specified it. The forum posting (post was removed by BayanTel; Google Cache here) was allegedly lifted from the official documents (but we could not find the original one): 1. What is the monthly bandwidth limit per subscriber? The limit per subscriber ay any given month must not exceed 100 gigabytes. 2.Why is there a bandwidth limit? bayanDSL must ensure the quality of service of…
