BlackBerry Playbook price drops by at least $100

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: September 23, 2011

This is looking like the HP TouchPad all over again. RIM's BlackBerry Playbook is seeing some price cuts across the entire line-up by at least $100 over at Amazon. The lowest price cut we saw from one of Amazon's resellers is $335 (Php14,750) for the 16GB model. That's a $164 discount from the suggested retail price of $499. A discounted price of $335 is already very tempting for a very powerful tablet. And once Android Market is made available, I'm sure it's going to get a lot more attention. But will the BB Playbook go the way of the HP…

Relevance: 97%      Posted on: January 3, 2012

Always wanted me to get the BlackBerry PlayBook but have not had the chance to get a good deal. There's been some limited promos in the US and my friend there wanted to wait 'til it drops to $199. Well, it looks like the BlackBerry Store is now doing a $299 sale on all models of the PlayBook. What's weird though is that it's $299 on all the models, from the 16GB to the 64GB. With BB PlayBook OS 2.0 coming out this quarter and the Android Market port that comes with it, the 64GB Playbook seems like a steal.…

Do you own a BlackBerry PlayBook? The 7-inch tablet made by RIM (BlackBerry) two years ago? If yes, bad news awaits. BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins announced that the promised BlackBerry 10 update for all PlayBook isn't going to push through. That is announced after not being able to reach target profit for the Q1 2013. BlackBerry's sole justification of leaving PlayBook behind is that they wanted to focus and give more attention to core products since it wasn't able to deliver good performance in terms of profit. Remember what Heins said in an interview? "In five years I don’t think…

Vietnamese tech site Tinthe.vn has leaked pictures of what looks like a larger Blackberry Playbook. Could this rumored to be the first to feature the delayed BB OS X? Apart from the larger screen, the alleged Playbook successor is rumored to have 7250mAh battery as seen in torn down tablet on their website. It is also rumored to have a SIM card slot which is lacking feature of its 7-incher sibling. The leaked images seem convincing enough but until there's an official announcement from the Canadian device manufacturer, this should be taken with a grain of salt. A thought that's…

RIM showed to members of the media a preview of the BlackBerry Playbook OS 2.0. And while we wait in the next two weeks for the OS update to roll out to devices, we've got some alone time to play with it. RIM has done a lot of improvements on the Playbook OS to make it more usable this time (I bought a BB Playbook a couple of weeks ago to prepare for OS 2.0). One of the major adjustments they made is to add a native Email app, Calendar App and Contacts list. These apps were previously deactivated when…
