Smart extends unlimited LTE, bares regular pricing

In a press release sent posted yesterday, Smart announced that they are extending their introductory promo for unlimited LTE from April 30 to June 30. In the same announcement, they also revealed the regular prices for mobile LTE.

Using Smart Bro Rocket on Php200 per 180MB

Since October 1, Smart has switched the plug on their Smart Bro Rocket Plug-It to use volume-based data pricing (same as Always On). The recommended bucket plan is Php200 per 180MB. So I tried it on my Rocket Plug-It to see how much I’d consume in a day.

I have been told by a reliable source that the Huawei E586 could be the pocket WiFi used by Smart for the Rocket WiFi Plus. The press release says it’s going to ride on their HSPA+ network so this looks like it.

Globe PowerSurf15: Php15 for 60 minutes

Globe has also introduced a new per minute bucket pricing for their mobile 3G called PowerSurf (as opposed to the unlimited SuperSurf). Rate starts at Php15 per 60 minutes (1 hour) but goes down to Php10 per hour for larger buckets.

Smart 3G: from Php10/30mins to Php1/min

[Update: Smart per Minute Rate for Mobile 3G] Smart is offering a new prepaid mobile internet plan — at one-peso-per-minute rate. That’s basically Php60 per hour, way more expensive than their current offering which is Php10 per 30 minutes or Php20 per hour.

Smart Uzzap: IM, Email and a bucket of SMS

Smart yesterday launched a new PC and mobile IM app called Smart Uzzap (probably a Web 2.0 play on the Tagalog term “usap” or talk). The app/service seems to aim into the PC-to-mobile (and vice versa) messaging market.
