We've been playing with the Acer Iconia Tab A500 for over a week now and I must say this is a pretty decent Honeycomb tablet and probably the cheapest dual-core tablet in the Philippines with street prices as low as Php18,500. The Iconia A500 is actually the first dual-core Honeycomb tablet to be released in the Philippines, sporting an NVidia Tegra 2 chipset. The Asus Transformer and the Samsung Galxy Tab 10.1 have been announced and previewed with the members of the media several months ago but have not yet been sold to the general public. This 10-inch tablet isn't…

Acer Iconia A100 in the flesh, first impressions

Relevance: 62%      Posted on: September 18, 2011

Found this 7-inch Acer Iconia A100 Honeycomb tablet in one of the stores in Mongkok yesterday. It's one of those rare finds among the dozen or so tablets available locally. The retail price was something in the range of Php19,000 when converted from HK dollars (the sales guy would not allow me to take a photo when he saw my Canon S95 but quickly positioned my iPhone 4 to get this shot). The Iconia A100 still resembles the design and specs of its big brother, the Iconia A500. Initial impression of the performance is very similar it the A500. Acer…

The Iconia M500 runs on an Intel Atom processor and will most probably be spec'ed like a netbook with an SSD storage. Will post more updates once we get the release (via Engadget & NetbookNews).

Okay, I think I spoke too soon. Just got this press release from Globe that they renamed their 3G internet service to Globe Broadband Tattoo. Globe Broadband Tattoo, formerly known as Globe Visibility, uses a USB stick that works as a modem (more like a re-brand of Globe Visibility). Globe has also upgraded their network so users can get speeds of up to 2 Mbps. Globe redesigned Globe Broadband Tattoo with some funky designs featuring artworks in black, orange, or blue. The Globe Broadband Tattoo Prepaid Kit comes with a free Php100 load that is equivalent to five hours of…
