World’s Slimmest Portable Hard Drive Lands Locally

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: June 10, 2015

Remember the Seagate Seven, the 7mm thin USB 3.0 external hard drive that Seagate launched in CES 2015? Well, you can now purchase one locally for Php5,290. Don’t let its thin form factor fool you one bit because Seagate claims that the Seven’s hardened aluminum chassis can survive being run over by a small vehicle. The downside though is that Seagate only makes 500GB model of the Seven, which can be a hug drawback for users who are in the market for external drives with larger capacity. If you fancy one of these ultra-thin portable hard drive, you can purchase…

Seagate Seven Unveiled, 7mm-thin Portable Hard Drive

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: January 5, 2015

Seagate has certainly come a long way since they released the first mass produced 5.25-inch HDD 35 years ago. And to celebrate this milestone, the storage giant has announced two new portable hard drives, one of which is the Seagate Seven which, as its name implies, is a svelte 500GB portable hard drive that only measures 7mm thick on the sides. Seagate has basically shaved as much as excess fat as possible to keep the Seven’s form factor to a minimum. This resulted in to an ultra-thin, metal-bound hard drive that’s even thinner than an iPhone 6 Plus. Dubbed as…

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: October 21, 2005

Last week, Samsung released its first mobile phone with a built-in 3GB hard drive. The Samsung SPH-V7900 mobile phone also has 2 cameras, one of which takes photos at 2.0 megapixels, dual screens and twin speakers. The LCD screen is 240 x 320 pixels. On December last year, Samsung released the first mobile phone with a built-in HDD, SPH-V5400. Okay, phones with 3GB of storage is cool, but thru a hard drive? Not! I have a Nokia 3230 for just over 2 months now and I already have banged it or dropped it over a dozen times. Good thing the…

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: August 27, 2014

During the latter part of 2013, Western Digital surprised the tech industry with the release of two Helium-filled 6TB hard drives which was the highest capacity at that time. Nine months later, Seagate snatches the crown away from WD with the announcement of the world’s first 8TB 3.5-inch HDD. In the press release, Seagate VP for Marketing Scott Hom said that the company’s new hard drive will address most of the issues that both private and cloud-based data centers encounter by allowing them to scale up their existing storage arrays with one slot having the ability to store up to…

LG Portable External DVD Rewriter

Relevance: 70%      Posted on: November 9, 2008

This portable DVD writer from LG is one of the slimmest I've seen so far. With a maximum read and write speed of just 8x, it should suffice the occasional need to hook up a netbook to an external optical drive. One of the items I enumerated earlier on my post about "How would you extend the netbook?" was an equally portable and lightweight external optical media drive. Weighs about 380 grams and is only 21mm thick. The MSI Wind and the LG drive's combined weight is almost the same as that of an Asus Eee PC 1000H. The dimensions…

ReVault is a wireless and wearable hard drive

Relevance: 65%      Posted on: May 20, 2015

More and more people are recently shifting towards cloud storage since it's easier to access and always available as long as you're connected to the Internet. Although with all the hacking and leaking these days it's sometimes not as safe as when you're keeping your files on a local storage. ReVault basically fuses both worlds and combines wireless transfer in a very portable form factor. Yes, having a local storage that transfers via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi is nothing new, but what makes this storage stand out from its peers is its capability to be worn and be brought around anywhere you…

Relevance: 60%      Posted on: March 31, 2009

On of the more obvious differentiation between a netbook and a regular notebook or laptop is that the latter has one while netbooks don't. Asus is changing that definition by introducing the Eee PC 1004DN. The specs include: Asus EeePC 1004DN Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz GN40 with Integrated GMA 4500M graphics 10 inch screen, 1024 x 600 pixels DVD-RW 1GB (up to 2GB) 120GB HDD 802.11b/g/n WiFi, bluetooth 2.1 1.3MP webcam The 6 cell (5200mAh up to 5.9 hours) battery and the optical disk drive added more weight to the Eee PC which brings it to 1.45kg or 3.2lbs. Why…
