Acer Aspire Timeline notebook lasts for 8 hours

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: June 3, 2009

This was launched sometime last month but I only had several close encounters with it lately. The Acer Timeline notebook boasts of up to 8 hours battery life and sports a nice slim design (slimmer than most netbooks). Most of the Acer notebooks I've seen around are ugly and bulky but the Acer Timeline series changed that impression. And they're very light too. The Timeline has 3 models although I've only seen two -- the 13.3" and 14" models with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels running GMA 4500MHD. In order for the notebooks to squeeze out 8 hours of battery…

ECS G320: Cheapest Laptop ever?

Relevance: 97%      Posted on: July 23, 2005

Look at this ECS G320 laptop. Got this from PC Buyers guide last week. Could this be the cheapest locally distributed laptop ever? Runs on a VIA C3 (Nehemiah) 1GHz, 128MB DDR SODIMM, 14.1" XGA TFT LCD, built-in graphics with up to 64MB shared memory, 40GB HDD, built-in speakers, modem and LAN, 4 USB 2.0, 1 VGA out, 4-cell Li-Ion pack battery. SRP: Php29,995 Looks affordable enough, except you'd wish it comes with 256 MB ram and WiFi enabled. I wonder how the VIA C3 1GHz performs? Relevance: 84%      Posted on: May 12, 2008

The Asus Eee PC 900 will officially launched today and the retail price hasn't been finalized yet. Though initial report from the inside is that it will be at Php24,995, several units available in stores tagged them up to Php28,000+. So, I've rounded a list of sub-25k laptops from several name brands to see how they measure up. The Asus Eee PC, despite it's small form factor, has already encroached on the market of cheap low-end laptop market. In our round-up I've include various laptop brands with their specs and SRP. The list includes Asus, Acer, HP, Compaq, IBM, Lenovo,…

Deep Blue H1 Mini Notebook Review

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: August 12, 2008

The Deep Blue H1 mini notebook had an early mover advantage in the UMPC market but it seems it wasn't able to hold its ground against the newcomers. Let's check out and see if this unit would have made a good competitor to the Asus Eee PC 701 series. Blue Digital Systems went with a Via processor with the H1 -- a 1.0GHz Via C7-M. It also has 1GB of RAM pre-installed and a 40GB HDD. In my 7-inch UMPC Rounds-Up last April, the Blue H1 came out on top as the cheapest and feature-packed among the four. (See unboxing…

Fujitsu M2010 Mini-Notebook

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: June 6, 2009

Just like HP, Fujitsu doesn't want to call their mini-notebook a netbook. So, aside from the 8.9-inch Amilo Mini UI 3520 that came out last year, Fujitsu has yet another 10" model called M2010 mini-notebook. And like the Amilo Mini, I don't think we'll ever get to see and buy this one locally (unless you get them from Singapore or HK). Intel Atom Processor N270 10.1" display screen (1024x576) 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz memory 160 GB HDD webcam 10/100 LAN Atheros 802.11b/g WiFi Bluetooth 3-cell Lithium ion battery Memory can be upgraded to 2GB and there's also higher capacity…

Fujitsu LifeBook U820 Mini-Notebook

I've seen a similar unit somewhere in Park Square 1 for some months now but it looks like Fujitsu has done a refresh (LifeBook U820) with an Intel Atom processor in it. Fujitsu packed the whole thing in just 5.6 inches, the smallest I've seen so far. It also swivels around to take on a tablet form, with stylus in tow. Fujitsu LifeBook U820 Intel Atom Processor Z530 1GB DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM Webcam Fingerprint Sensor 60GB/120GB HDD WiFi 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth Built-in GPS receiver and integrated Garmin Mobile PC SD & CF card slot 1 x USB 2.0 port…
