Comment Policy

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: September 25, 2005

One of the main drawbacks of having a fairly popular blog (that's according to Google, not me) aside from getting comment spam is having troll spams. Troll spams are those who checks out your blog for high comment traffic then add self-serving comments promoting their own blogs, forums or website in the hope that traffic would precipitate down to their end. Comments are good. In fact, I love comments. But if you leave a comment just to promote your blog or forum or website, expect that I will edit them or delete them. It's my blog and I can do…

iPad 3 announcement on March 7

Relevance: 86%      Posted on: February 29, 2012

Apple has sent out invites for a March 7 announcement and by the looks of it, the most likely product is the next-generation iPad (we still don't know yet if it's going to be called iPad HD, iPad 3, iPad 2HD or 2S). Speculations point to a number of new features, including an HD resolution (something like Retina Display), a quad-core processor and possibly options for LTE modem. In any case, we anticipate that all these announcements at the Mobile World Congress about all sorts of Android tablets can be matched by Apple's tablet come March 7. {via}

Comment Trolling Has A Psychological Explanation

Relevance: 81%      Posted on: November 21, 2007

The hot item over at TechCrunch is all about comment trolling having some psychological explanation. Well, of course, every human action has some sort of psychological explanation except of course if one has a bout of epilepsy. I may have over half a dozen trolls linger on this blog for months, sometimes even years. I even got a blog once dedicated just to mock me. Oftentimes, I'd ignore them; other times I'd try to engage their good side (hoping they do have one) before I take evasive actions. What strikes my curiosity is why would these people keep on trolling…

Defensio Anti Comment Spam System

Relevance: 79%      Posted on: November 9, 2007

We're all familiar with Akismet since it comes loaded with every WordPress installation. Aside from that, there's not much choice for an anti-spam defense for our blogs anywhere. Well, what we usually do is complement the Akismet system with other spam defenders like captchas, Spam Karma 2, Bad Behavior, Simple Math, etc. That basically leaves Akismet as the only centralized anti comment-spam system around. Now there's a new player in that space and they aptly called it Defensio. It's basically similar to Akismet with a little more improvements on the side. Both are based on a centralized system with APIs.…

Relevance: 75%      Posted on: February 2, 2014

When I applied for my new UnliData Plan this afternoon, I was told that access to the LTE network is free or unlimited until March 31, 2014 and I have to pay an extra Php995 afterwards to gain back access. Interviewed the CSR a bit more to get details. The specific instruction was that after March 31, I need to switch my network settings from LTE to 3G. Otherwise, I will be automatically charged an extra fee. Otherwise, I just need to text and upgrade to the LTE 995 plan (text LTE 995 to 2200). Just this afternoon, a reader…

Relevance: 72%      Posted on: March 5, 2014

Looks like Nokia X is arriving in the Philippines way earlier than we expected. We just got an invite that Nokia Philippines is launching the Android-based Nokia X this March 11. We first got a closer look at the Nokia X series of smartphones last month when we went to Barcelona for the Mobile World Congress 2014. The new line is represented by low-cost handsets like the Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL -- all of which were priced in the Php5,000 to Php7,000 range (before taxes and subsidies). The March 11 launch will only be for the…
