Alcatel adds Star to its One Touch line up

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: February 13, 2013

Back in January, Alcatel unveiled their new product line called One Touch with the flag bearer being the 6.9mm thin Idol Ultra. Today, the company announced the entry-level handset under the same line up, the Alcatel One Touch Star. This phone is equipped with almost everything you’d expect from an entry-level Android smartphone. At its core, you can find a 1GHz dual core processor, half a gigabyte of RAM and 4GB worth of storage that can be expanded up to 32GB. There’s also a 5MP camera at the back which is couple by a 2MP on the other side just…

Samsung Star S5233S Unboxed

Relevance: 98%      Posted on: May 24, 2009

When I first receive this Samsung Star (Samsung S5233S) last week, I thought the LG Cookie has found a new competitor in the affordable full touch screen phone segment. Check out the pictures I took after the jump. Labeled under the Samsung S5230 line, the Samsung Star doesn't have much in connectivity -- no 3G, no WiFi, no GPS -- but has a full 3.0-inch (240x400 pixels) touch screen. It's gonna be very affordable and will target Samsung fans looking to try a touchscreen phone without putting a hole in the pocket. Haven't gotten the official price yet but expect…

Epson Philippines powers Star City’s newest attraction

Relevance: 97%      Posted on: January 30, 2015

Epson proudly announced that one of their projectors is the key that makes Star City's newest attraction a possibility. Called Star Dome, it utilizes Epson's high-end projector which is the first and only installation of its kind here in the country (and only third in the whole world). The projector, an Epson EB-Z8450WU, is capable of a 360-degree installation that projects HD-quality WUXGA images with a 7,000-lumen lamp. You're probably wondering what it can do for the attraction. The Star Dome is able to offer an interactive giant book that users can manipulate by swiping, giant ‘talking’ heads animated through projection mapping, and…

Samsung Star S5233 vs. LG Cookie KP500

Relevance: 93%      Posted on: July 7, 2009

A lot of people are asking which of these two entry-level touchscreen phones is better -- the new Samsung S5233 Star or the older LG Cookie KP500 -- and I'd say they are just brothers from a different mother. Check out the comparative chart below and you'd be surprised how much specs these two phones share with each other. They're like clones -- down to the thickness. Of course, the LG Cookie got beaten in the charts by the Samsung Star with a minuscule difference in internal memory, VGA recording and battery rating. The LG Cookie is about 500 bucks…

Samsung Star S5233T gets an Analog TV

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: March 21, 2010

There were several iterations of the popular Samsung Star touchscreen phone that were introduced in the Philippines. The recent version, the Samsung S5233T, doesn't have 3G nor WiFi included but features an Analog TV tuner. It's a pretty interesting offering since it is mostly the China phones that are the ones promoting TV tuners in phones. It's possible Samsung was looking at how much traction it could get from that market. There's no WiFi here nor 3G connectivity but the Analog TV might catch the attention of a lot of people (especially those who are inclined to buy CHina phones…

Samsung Star S5233 Review

Relevance: 84%      Posted on: June 4, 2009

After trying out the Samsung Star (S5233) for over a week, I must say that this entry-level full touchscreen phone from Samsung comes as a contender in that category. The first time I powered up the phone and saw the UI, it reminded me of the Android OS. Samsung's TouchWiz UI is fast, responsive and pretty slick. The screen is a full 3 inches with a resolution of 240x400 pixels. The display is bright and crisp while the haptic feedback of the touchscreen can be adjusted for sensitivity (1 as subtle to 5 as shaky). This gives you the ability…
