Poll: What’s your local back-up solution like?

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: February 2, 2012

A reader asked me what my preferred storage medium for local backups. I would have said I always do HDD but the options only mentioned optical disk drives (DVD, CD-R and CD+RW). My choice would be DVD but I really don't like to use optical disks as back-up. In any case, I wanted to throw the same question to my readers and do it via a poll. What's your preferred back-up solution at home. I know there are a lot of cloud storage options but let's limit this one to local solutions. Optical Disk Drives External HDD NAS Others I…

JBL Pulse Quick Review: Music and Lights in Action

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: April 6, 2014

Sometimes a good sounding speakers isn't enough. We look at other features and functions that make it great -- like NFC, water-proof, dust-proof, and the like. In the case of the JBL Pulse, it's the LED visualizer that makes it stand among the rest. The first time I actually saw the Pulse was during CES 2014 back in January when I was invited to visit the Harman exhibit at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. They had the entire ballroom to themselves (separate from the official CES Exhibition Halls) to showcase audio equipments from JBL, Harman-Kardon and Infinity. While…

Bonifacio High Street does the Dancing Christmas Lights

Relevance: 89%      Posted on: November 18, 2007

We saw the amazing original dancing Christmas lights last year. Last night, while hanging out at the Bonifacio High Street at the Fort, they had a similar Christmas light show. Took a short video clip using my camera phone. Not bad at all. They had several other songs too but this one caught a lot of people's attention. Christmas is really here.

Everything looks better with a few LED lights on, or at least that’s what Razer thinks when they come up with their new hard mouse mat dubbed as the Firefly. In their press release, Razer raves about the Firefly’s Chroma lighting feature which gives the mousepad 16.8 million color options for virtually unlimited color customization, as well as a handful of lighting effects to boot such as glow, pulse and wave just to name a few. To further up the ante, the Razer Firefly’s lighting effects and color can be synced with other Chroma-imbued gaming peripherals like the Deathstalker and…

Poll: What’s your in-car music solution?

Relevance: 64%      Posted on: May 11, 2011

Was setting up my in-car music system the other day and realized I haven't been using the CD player for a long time. I used to burn MP3 music into CDs and use them in the car but have switched to the iPod in recent years. So I'm curious what drivers prefer as source of their music inside the car. Let's put this to a poll and see what's the most popular, shall we? I used the built-in CD/MP3 player in the car. I prefer tuning in to FM radio. Cassette tape FTW! I hook up my iPod/Zune/MP3 player to…

Looking for a better anti-SPAM solution.

Relevance: 64%      Posted on: October 18, 2005

Been getting a lot of spam lately -- in the hundreds, daily. I've already installed the Wordpress Hascash and Referrer Bouncer for quite some time now. There hasn't been any trackback spams for quite some time but spam comments are all over. I've already tweaked the Option settings to moderate comments with at least a single link in it. I suppose there's a better Wordpress plugin out there. I just need some feddback from those who have actually used it and how effective the plugin has been. Just leave your recommendations here. Thanks!
