Waiting is now finally over as Dell’s ultrabook brainchild has now officially unveiled in an event held at the Mind Museum BGC Taguig. The Dell XPS 13 is the American company’s first shot at the ultrabook fame and a very impressive attempt at that.

Dell’s upcoming tablet-like mobile internet device has been officially named the Mini 5, perhaps due to the fact it’s got a 5-inch screen (although Dell claims to be doing other sizes as well).
Though not yet officially released in the Philippines, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with built-in 3G modem is listed on Asianic for Php32,995.
Although it was confirmed last August that Dell has discontinued the Inspiron Mini 12, it looks like several units of the 12-incher has already arrived and being sold at Accent Micro.
Looks like there are 2 different models of Dell’s 10-inch Inspiron Mini netbook. The previous one I blogged about here earlier has an Atom N270 CPU and this new one has an Atom Z530.
I thought the Dell Mini 9 would be the last netbook from Dell we’d see for the longest time. It’s been almost a year ago when the first model was launched while the Inspiron Mini 10 was announced as early as January this year.
We did a survey on the best netbook-maker a couple of weeks back and I thought it’s time to share the results of that survey (there were over 1,000 votes sent in). Not surprisingly, HP came out the winner of the poll.
One of my more nagging problems with a lot of locally available netbooks is the low resolution screen. While 1024 x 600 pixels is fine for regular web browsing, there are important softwares out there that require higher resolution and just wouldn’t work with most netbooks.
With over a dozen netbook brands available in the Philippines today, it’s pretty harder to pick a model compared to a year ago. It’s good though — the more, the better — competition drives innovation up and prices down.
