This is probably the first laptop launch I attended where the stars are just the lids and not the laptops themselves. Dell Philippines launched a new series of Inspiron, Vostro and XPS laptops that come with the latest Intel Sandy Bridge processors yesterday.

Last time Dell announced the Venue Pro in October it was running on Windows Phone 7. Looks like there’s an Android version too and the Dell Venue has just made the global launch.

Acer buys Gateway; bumps to No. 3

Acer Gateway Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer Inc. announced yesterday that it’s acquiring US-based Gateway Computers.

Once the acquisition is complete, it will put Acer as the no. 3 PC-maker worldwide.

I was invited to the opening of Rising Sun Computers’ new branch along Taft Avenue yesterday. MacDells: Serving OS X on a PC

What better way for Apple to gain more Mac switchers, increase its market share, and earn more revenues than by licensing the OS X? Makes sense, IMO. Besides, Apple seems to be slowly embracing Windows.

Google blocks Yahoo on Default Search Settings

Heard from the TWiT podcast that PC maker Dell made a deal with Google to load up all new Dell PCs with the Google Toolbar, PC Search and Web Search along with a co-branded homepage. Obviously, this co-branding is all about advertising and Dell and Google will share the profits from revenues taken from this.
