The Canon S100 is the successor to the highly popular S95 and continues the same tested and proven formula for a point-and-shoot digital camera — wide aperture and manual control in a solid, light and portable body. Check out our full review of the Canon S100 after the jump.

After months of waiting and asking around, I finally found the Canon S100 that I’ve been looking for. This successor to the Canon S95 may not arrive in the Philippines until 2012 so I’m glad to be able to bring the first unit home.

We’re all too familiar with Android tablets and the iPad so when we were introduced to the BlackBerry Playbook with its own mobile operating system, we paused for a while to re-think the UI, navigation and over-all usability. Read our full review of RIM’s BlackBerry Playbook after the jump.

I managed to get a sneak peak and got a few shots of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9900 yesterday. It’s not yet out in South East Asia and they would not tell exactly when it will be released so this is just some sort of a media preview.

We got the successor of the TX5, the Sony TX10, a water-proof, shock-proof camera and was able to test it out during our last scuba-diving session in Anilao, Batangas (t’was an Epson event). I’ve only had a short stint using the TX5 before and have not really reviewed it so I was expecting a bit more with the TX10.

The Canon Ixus 300 HS is one pretty interesting point-and-shoot camera. It slightly departs from the usual Ixus look and combines both form and function in such a relatively small compact camera. Full review of the Ixus 300 HS after the jump.

When the Canon 550D was announced last February, I thought it would have been a great dSLR for me had I not upgraded to the 7D earlier. Check out my review below and let me tell you why.

One of my more nagging problems with a lot of locally available netbooks is the low resolution screen. While 1024 x 600 pixels is fine for regular web browsing, there are important softwares out there that require higher resolution and just wouldn’t work with most netbooks.

Thinking that Globe already has the exclusive rights to carry the iPhone 3G in the Philippines, other networks would grab competing handsets like the Google Android G2 phone (aka HTC Magic).

Digital cameras really do come and go. It was only a couple of years ago when the Rebel XT (ESO 350D) and the XTi (EOS 400D) was introduced in the market. Now, Canon is coming up with the next generation that will surely create another wave of mad rush to camera shops around the world.

At the CES MacWorld just moments ago, Steve Jobs announced the highly speculated Apple iPhone. Looks like a sleekly iPod Nano with nothing but screen space:

The feature that Jobs is claiming to solve the usability problem — no keypad. Just pure digital real estate. It’s currently only tied with Cingular though.

Some basic specs:
OSX operating system
3.5 inch wide screen
2 megapixel camera
bluetooth
WiFi
GSM Radio + EDGE
8GB capacity
proximity sensor (so your face won’t accidentally press the buttons)
switch from portrait to landscape screen layout
built-in speaker
run Safari browser
This thing is a little expensive — $499 for the 4GB and $599 for the 8GB. Expect the prices here in the Philippines will be more than that (somewhere around Php30k & Php40k respectively) if it will even reach the country when it ships this June.
One thing they forgot to mention was how long the battery life would be — standby time and call time.
