Which one’s your favorite gadget store?

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: January 11, 2011

I often get questions from readers which places (i.e. gadget stores) are among the best in the country? I don't have a very comprehensive list and experience with a lot of them, especially the online-only stores. For most of the time, I can only advise if a store is indeed a legit one and sometimes I also vouch for the ones that I personally know the owners or site operators. Other gadget stores have their own following -- including the ones in Hidalgo (famous for camera shops) and the sizable Multiply sellers. The PC stores have their own following too.…

It's finally here! The first official Apple Store in the Philippines has opened in Bonifacio Global City without much noise. This we confirmed after a chance encounter and quick interview with a Marketing Manager overseeing the operations of the store. The Apple Store is located inside the newly constructed Abensons BGC which is found in the corner of the 5th and 28th Street. Construction began last year and was only completed in October of 2014. The store was curated by representatives from Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California (Manila Bulletin fist reported the Apple Store in December 8). Abenson Global City…

Apple to open Online Store in the Philippines?

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: September 30, 2008

A tip from a source close to distributors hinted that an Apple Online Store is in the works to cater to Philippine consumers. Could be launching real soon? The source reveals that Apple would not allow resellers and distributors to sell any Apple products online. Apple is strict about this and violation could result to a revocation of license/rights. However, this doesn't prevent small-time sellers to offer iPods, Macbooks and other Apple products on their sites, blogs or Multiply accounts. In our region, only Hong Kong and Singapore have online Apple Stores. Maybe the demand for iPods and other…

Remember the photo that was posted by CD-R King's Facebook page featuring Google Glass? Well, bad news folks. CD-R King to offer Google Glass?

Relevance: 76%      Posted on: May 11, 2014

CD-R King, one of the largest media providers in the country, may possibly make the Google Glass available locally, or at least that’s what they’re hinting at on one of the recent post they’ve made on their official Facebook page. The company has not given any concrete details about the device, when it’s going to be available, and how much they’re planning to retail it once it does hit the shelves. However, they did promise that they’ll provide more information about it soon. Another thing that’s not clear here is whether or not they’ll bring in the real deal or…

Does CDR-King have a reputation problem?

Relevance: 76%      Posted on: May 16, 2011

My last entry about CDR-King sparked a heated debate among readers. It's got to do with the fact that the company, which is well-known for cheap accessories and thing-a-ma-jigs, are now going into big-ticket items such as laptops, cameras, tablets and even windmills! The company expanded aggressively despite not going into the franchising business (apparently, all of the outlets are company owned). The psychology behind the…
