Globe caps SuperSurf at 800MB per day

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: December 23, 2010

So I looked at how Globe does their capping for unlimited mobile internet (SuperSurf) and found out that their Fair Use Policy has a somewhat similar strategy. Though this time, it's 800MB per day. Was wondering at first why they did it on a daily basis instead of monthly then realized that there's no 30-day SuperSurf for prepaid (just for postpaid). An 800MB daily cap translates to 24GB per month (30 days) so that seems reasonable. I guess their tagline "Walang Metro" only applies to the time-based not not really the bandwidth. However, unlike Smart's Fair Use Policy which throttles…

Globe switches UnliSurf to GoSurf in MySuperPlan

Relevance: 64%      Posted on: May 12, 2014

Last month, we reported that Globe is consolidating its mobile internet plans under the new GoSurf label replacing both PowerSurf and SuperSurf. Globe has denied it will phase out SuperSurf but it looks like they've actually started doing so this month. In 3 separate conversations with Globe Customer Service on the phone over the week-end, we received multiple confirmations that the new default mobile surfing plans will now be GoSurf and SuperSurf is no longer offered in the plans. Some of the new Globe MySuperPlan packages are as follows: MySuperPlan 1799: GoSurf 5GB - 999 Consumable - 800 Unlimited Calls…

Globe & Smart to offer the Samsung Galaxy S3 this May

Relevance: 61%      Posted on: May 10, 2012

Based on the number of tweets from Globe Telecom and Smart Comm., it looks like both telcos will be offering the new Samsung Galaxy S3 this May. The date has not yet been set but according to Samsung reps, it will be either May 22 or May 24. I am betting on May 24 though if this is going to be a huge launch between the two carriers. Globe's tweet was subtle but already contains the #globegalaxys3 hashtag: Smart's recent tweet was a bit bold and contains photos of the Galaxy S3 itself (#smartgalaxys3): The last time we saw this…

If Smart has the Galaxy Y Netphone Edition, Globe is also introducing the Samsung Galaxy Y PowerSurf Edition which comes free with Plan 499. Both the Galaxy Y and the CloudFone Temptation are free on Plan 499. Globe earlier introduced the CloudFone Ice to compete with the Netphone. In addition to the postpaid plans we’ve previously reported, Globe Telecoms has announced the Galaxy Forever Plan which entitles subscribers to a new flagship Galaxy smartphone every year without having to finish the usual 24-month lock-in period. In a nutshell, Globe’s new Galaxy Forever Plan is somewhat similar to their existing iPhone Forever Plan wherein these special postpaid plans only lasts for 12 months. After the contract period has lapsed consumers can choose to renew their service and either trade in their old handsets for a smaller cash-out or pay the full one-time fee. Here’s the breakdown of the Galaxy

Relevance: 58%      Posted on: March 8, 2014

Globe Telecom has already put up their pre-order page for Samsung's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, and it looks like it is set to arrive next month. As of the moment, the page will only let register your interest for the Samsung Galaxy S5 using your Facebook or Twitter accounts. What's exciting about this though is that Globe included a countdown which, if we counted correctly, is set to launch on April 10.
