Blue H1 UMPC: Unboxing Pics

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: July 9, 2008

The Blue H1 UMPC is probably the only ultraportable laptop specifically marketed to the Philippines but never got much airtime (except for that Engadget mention earlier). I thought it deserves a second look. Got a unit and we're unboxing it for the first time. The Blue H1 is a 7″ inch (800×480 screen) laptop with 1.0GHz Via C7-M processor, 1GB RAM, 40 GB HDD, WiFi, LAN, 0.3 megapixel webcam, 2 USB 2.0 ports and 4-in-1 card reader. We're putting it side by side with and Asus Eee PC 701 and an HP B1200. Review will follow.

Deep Blue H1 price drops to Php9,995

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: September 17, 2008

Blue Digital Systems listened to my advise and dropped their Blue H1 netbook to just Php9,995 this week. Now that's a good bargain there. Got a text message the other day telling me they've followed my advise and offered the new price. It's a good move to separate them off the huge line of new netbooks that came out this year. The Php9,995 price tag has Linux OS installed (Php11,495 with Windows XP Home). In a way, they're trying to take on the label as the cheapest netbook ever. Priced competitively, the Deep Blue H1 is positioned as an alternative…

Windows Blue to be released next year

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: November 29, 2012

Windows 8 was just released last month and Microsoft is already reported to be working on their next Windows OS codenamed 'Blue' which is set for release in mid-2013. Windows Blue is rumored to be Microsoft's standardized OS that will bring UI changes and a better upgrade solution across Windows and Windows Phone platforms. Instead of getting a new version of Windows every other year or so, regular updates will be pushed annually at a very low-cost or even free. This kind of approach makes it easier for users to make an upgrade and is similar to what Apple does…

The specs: 10" display screen Intel Centrino 1.2GHz 1GB RAM 80GB HDD WiFi 56k modem LAN 2 USB ports Firewire port 6-cell battery Windows XP Home Edition External DVD-Writer The price: Php 21, 998 (approx. $475) This is the first netbook that came out with an…

Deep Blue H1 Mini Notebook Review

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: August 12, 2008

The Deep Blue H1 mini notebook had an early mover advantage in the UMPC market but it seems it wasn't able to hold its ground against the newcomers. Let's check out and see if this unit would have made a good competitor to the Asus Eee PC 701 series. Blue Digital Systems went with a Via processor with the H1 -- a 1.0GHz Via C7-M. It also has 1GB of RAM pre-installed and a 40GB HDD. In my 7-inch UMPC Rounds-Up last April, the Blue H1 came out on top as the cheapest and feature-packed among the four. (See unboxing…

The Blue Brain Project

Relevance: 65%      Posted on: June 7, 2005

An effort to create the first computer simulation of the entire human brain, right down to the molecular level, was launched today. The “Blue Brain” project, a collaboration between IBM and a Swiss university team, will involve building a custom-made supercomputer based on IBM's Blue Gene design. The virtual brain will hopefully shed light on human cognition (perception, memory and perhaps consciousness). It will be the first time humans will be able to observe the electrical code our brains use to represent the world, says Henry Markram, director of Brain and Mind Institute in Switzerland. It may also help us…

MSI has been expanding its 10-inch U100 netbook series and has now included an upgraded specs and more color variations under the updated MSI Wind U100 Plus label. MSI announced last week two new colors -- Rose Champagne and Metallic Blue -- although the other color (Regal Red, announced in the 4th quarter of 2008) is something I haven't seen anywhere before either. Aside from the color variations, the U100 Plus is also updated to include WiFi 802.11n, a 1.3M built-in webcam, Intel Atom N280 (1.66Ghz, 667MHz). MSI claims up to 7 hours of battery life on a standard battery…

For about 4 years now, Ford Motors invite selected bloggers from around the globe to attend and visit the North American International Auto Show. This year, the number has grown to over 120 bloggers from 12 different countries. Aside from their official booth at the NAIAS itself, Ford mounted a huge blogger lounge called Behind the Blue Oval. This is where all the activities happened for us -- the talk by Ford CEO Allan Mulally, the display of the new 2015 Ford Mustang and many other Ford vehicles, a clay sculpture of the cars at 40% to scale, lots of…
