Looks like Globe Telecom is now offering the Google Nexus S to subscribers via a postpaid plan. The Globe website lists it with a cash out of Php21,307 on Plan 299.
Got word from one of the reps from Globe last night that the white variant of the iPhone 4 will be available in the Philippines this week-end. Now that’s fast.
There was a time when mobile Internet was considered a luxury service. It was only limited to corporate executives who needs mobile Internet to access Outlook emails and SharePoint files. Globe’s Visibility and Smart WeRoam were still uber expensive and you’re locked with a contract. Prepaid 3G or even EDGE connection is non-existent.
Globe Telecom started handing out the new iPhone 4 to the public at 9am today with hundreds (and going to the thousands) lining/waiting to pick-up their handsets.
So we finally got the official retail price of the iPhone 4 from Globe today and while the price point is within the expected range, it turns out it is more expensive by at least 12%. Here’s what we got from a little digging.

I got to check out the iPhone 4 yesterday and, once again, today with Art (@artsamaniego) and we placed it side by side the Samsung Galaxy S and the HTC Desire — then comparing the Retina Display, AMOLED and Super AMOLED display of the three.
People have been asking me how much would the newly announced iPhone 4 will be priced once it arrives in the Philippines. There’s no exact answer to that but it doesn’t mean we can’t make a guesstimate.

Globe Telecom is again slashing down prices on the iPhone 3GS units as the announcement of the next generation iPhone 4G nears.
Yesterday evening, Globe Telecom did a launch of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 with a couple of offers to prepaid and postpaid subscribers.
This just came in — Globe Telecom has officially announced it will launch the iPhone 3GS in the Philippines on July 31, 2009.
At the WWDC today, Apple announced their 3rd generation phone — the iPhone 3GS.
Globe Telecom today announced it will reduce the price of iPhone 3G by Php4,000 — that’s for both the 8GB and the 16GB model. That brings the 8GB down to Php33,599 and the 16GB version to Php39,799.

Today, I got to see and check out the iPhone 3G which will be released by Globe Telecom to the public tomorrow (August 22). I took tons of pictures and played with the device for a while. Here are my first impressions:
Like the Philippines, India will also be among 20 more countries to officially get the iPhone 3G on August 22, 2008. Not surprisingly, the prepaid price in India (via Vodafone) is almost the same as that of Globe Telecom.
Apparently, the iPhone can still be bought without the required 24-month contract with AT&T. A recent press release from AT& reveals the iPhone 3G to be priced at $599 for the 8GB and $699 for the 16GB. These contract-free prices seemed like the same prices when the first iPhone went out. Sold or not sold?
