Why SMS rates are still not down to Php0.80?

Last year, the NTC has sent out a memorandum to all carriers (Globe, Smart & Sun) asking everyone to lower their regular SMS rates down to Php0.80 from Php1.00. It should have been in effect since November 30, 2011.

The following settings are applicable to Smart, Globe and Sun Cellular for their APN settings (Access Point Name). The settings should work with majority of smartphones in the market.

Note: If you’re using a variety of postpaid or prepaid SIM cards in one dongle, make sure to create a Setting Profile for each SIM card so it’s easier to set the APN when switching SIM cards.

Leave all other settings blank or as is.

During the product launch of BlackBerry handsets last week, the regional executive from RIM also announced an unlimited BBM plans for only Php99 a month. The details weren’t clear then but it looks like the unli-plan is now being offered by Globe.
