Relevance: 100%      Posted on: January 23, 2013

Google Philippines has formally opened their local office today and announced their first country manager, a position that's been open since mid-2011. The Country Manager for the Philippines position was posted in July 2011 but the assignment was based in Singapore. In 2012, they were able to find a candidate (Narciso Reyes, formerly of AdMax/Komli Ad Network) and by late last year, they've built a team to operate the local office. The Philippine office is the 5th office in South East Asia where Google has local presence. The local team is composed of veteran folks from Yahoo! Philippines, Rappler.com, and…

What to expect from the Google office in the Philippines

Relevance: 90%      Posted on: January 24, 2013

When Google announced their local office in the Philippines yesterday, there was a lot of buzz that followed as the search giant sets its eyes on the country. But what does it really mean to have a local Google Philippines office? Just like several other multi-national companies, Google Philippines will primarily be a sales-driven team. This is the same case with Intel PH, Microsoft PH, Apple PH and even Yahoo! PH (although Yahoo! PH also has huge editorial team for localized content). That means focus on Google Adwords, their advertising platform, will be a primary concern and the Google PH…

One new role was posted 3 days ago and labeled as Vendor Operations Lead (under Sales Operation) and they're also looking for Vendor Operations…

By now, most of you may have already read the news about the recent Google acquisition that is Writely. That means you can edit your documents from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection, store it safely and securely, as well as share documents instantly & collaborate real-time. With Google moving in and buying Writely along with its plans to provide online storage, we can now see a bigger picture…

Watch out for Google Philippines!

Relevance: 66%      Posted on: October 16, 2006

There was an entry at PTB about Google hiring Country Representatives for the Philippines over a year ago. That ad was there for the longest time and I thought it's because either no one's applying for such a high position or Google is just to picky. So, I was surprised when Marc told me about his email correspondence with this lady who's apparently the Philippine Marketing Manager (of sorts) for Google. He confirms the story here and posted job openings too. And I thought if ever they did open an office here, it would be to get some Adsense rep…

Toshiba Philippines to open local office this August

Relevance: 63%      Posted on: July 19, 2011

Just talked to a couple of folks who have close relationship with Toshiba that the company will be opening a local office in the Philippines by August this year. Currently, Tricom is the one that's representing Toshiba in the Philippines (they’re the ones that handle local product launches and send out review units). We always have to refer to Toshiba Singapore when it involves corporate communications. Now that they are opening a local office, we should be seeing more presence of Toshiba products as well as better support from the company. For one, expect the Toshiba Thrive tablet to land…
