Smart Communications thought their Smart Wifi brand is knee deep in the mud right now that the best thing to remedy the bad publicity is to re-name it. So, they came up with Smart Bro (is that a shortcut for broadband?) They did some clean-up and even remove pages from their official site which mentioned Smart Wifi. Too bad that page is already #1 on Google, Yahoo and MSN for the term "smart wifi". (I suppose my blog will take over that spot, eh?) Migs pointed out that that Smart Bro is also a browser and a few days after…

BDO Online implements One-Time Password via SMS

Relevance: 84%      Posted on: May 1, 2013

Earlier this week, BDO implemented a two-factor authentication with their online banking service. Aside from the personal password, BDO is also sending a one-time password (OTP) which customers use to be able to login to the online banking service. This implementation is very similar to what GMail is offering with their 2-step verification process. BDO has only introduced it this week and all customers have the option to enable this in their account profile. This means that aside from your usual personal password, another password is sent to you within minutes of the initial login. The password automatically expires after…

I got really frustrated with the Smart WiFi thread and can't find time to moderate the discussions there so I thought I'd rather throw in a brand new site just for them. So there goes the Smart Wifi Chronicles. I'll let them do the talking there. I checked for some nice domains to use and found out that Meredian Telekoms already took, and yet they never bothered to buy the one with so I took it.
