How to reject a ReviewMe request?

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: February 28, 2007

The other day, I just got an email from ReviewMe that there is a pending request for review for one of my blogs. When I login back to their site, I discovered that my blog rank was updated from $100 per review to $250 which is the max rate for a request. With a take home of 50%, that's $125 already. The review was for a data recovery software designed to restore accidentally lost files and was assigned to PTB. So, I stared at it real hard and instead of clicking the decline button, waited it out until the request

In another surprise move by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, a request was sent to the NTC and ISPs to block several international websites for failure to remit proper taxes from operating within the Philippine internet domain. A copy of the letter was sent to the National Telecommunications Commission to demand ISPs to block access to certain social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter for failure to submit tax declarations from their operations in the Philippines. Facebook and Twitter are among the top destinations of Filipinos with the country being dubbed as the social media capital of the world. BIR…

Link Love Request

Relevance: 82%      Posted on: January 8, 2006

I appreciate those who took their time to link to my blog every time they mention me in their entries or permanently add my URL on their blogrolls. Back in April last year when I decided to move to WordPress from my own home-brewed CMS, I did it in haste and not wanting to ruin my old site, I moved the new blog to yugatech.com/blog, something that I now regret (just a wee bit). I did a permanent 301 redirect so I managed to inheret my old PR5 and had I not changed my blog URL, I could have gone…

Which One Are You: 8 Types of People That Request to Become Friends on Facebook

Relevance: 53%      Posted on: January 16, 2015

It's okay for me to get Facebook notifications and messages - I check them most of the time. But if we're going to talk about Facebook Friend Requests, it's the one I usually ignore because it's full of people we don't even know. So, who are these people? 1. Your actual friends and relatives I don't think this one needs any further explanation. This is the main idea behind Facebook friends: people you actually know! 2. Friends of your friends / relatives that don't know you personally They have faces that might seem familiar, pictures with your family and friends,…

Free Fonts Galore

Relevance: 29%      Posted on: March 3, 2007

Surprisingly, I got another request from ReviewMe yesterday after rejecting the old one. So here goes my quick review about UrbanFonts.com: At first, when I read the request and saw it was one about free fonts, I wondered why something being offered free needs to spend so much for this exposure. Since it's a new site/service, I guess, the value it gets in terms of exposure and long term brand recognition is worth it. But when I saw the site, browsed around and download several nice fonts & dingbats I found, I though the service will speak for itself. I…

iWebmasters outsourcing porn sites?

I am removing my post here about iWebmasters as per request of my source. It's my fault actually for not asking the person if our conversation was bloggable or not. I will leave the comments intact though as those are my reader's opinions.

Here's another way of getting your Paypal funds into one of your credit cards here in the Philippines. I initially thought this method would before but only got confirmation about it from Citibank just yesterday. It seems that only Visa credit cards are allowed to be added into your Paypal account. Not surprising since Paypal has it's own Visa credit card. Maybe a partnership with the credit company. So there are two ways to get your money from your Citibank credit card account after you've made a fund transfer from your Paypal account: Get your money via "Cash Advance". Be…

NTC Circular on Data Log Retention for Telcos

Relevance: 23%      Posted on: April 24, 2008

During the last eCommerce Forum at the Rockwell Center, participants were furnished copies of circulars, memos and drafts of bills. One such memorandum was an NTC Circular on Data Log Retention of Telecommunications Traffic. This memorandum was part of the implementing rules to support the Consumer Protection Act. In short, this measure will help in the prosecution of consumer complaints. I'm republishing relevant sections below: Section 1. PTEs shall retain the call data records on voice call and other similar records on non-voice traffic. Non-voice traffic includes SMS, MMS and other similar telecommunications services. Section 2. Records indicating traffic data…
