Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband: Unlimited for Php999!

Relevance: 99%      Posted on: August 7, 2008

Got a tip that the recently announced Sun Cellular Wireless Broadband service will be priced at Php999 per month with unlimited usage. Sun Cellular's 3G will use a similar USB dongle. This is so far the cheapest and only unlimited 3G provider in the Philippines. However, since Sun Cellular has just started rolling out their HSDPA network, 3G coverage will be limited to several areas in Metro Manila.

Blogger < code >.

This is my blogger code: B9 d++ t+ k+ s u f+ i o x e+ l c-- Got it from Dean Paul's blog. I find it cute, in a techy way. It could find its way into my "about" page. Take the survey and get your blogger code here. Update: Jangelo is calling all pinoy bloggers to Digg Pinoy.Tech.Blog. Side Note: I am temporarily disabling PinoyTopBlogs. Too many SQL connections and it's dragging the server to a halt. Will have to wait for the release version of evoTopSites and install their caching system to reduce load. They told me…

Help write the Blogger’s Code of Conduct at Wikia

Relevance: 91%      Posted on: April 9, 2007

As mentioned earlier in last Tuesday's Wrap, Tim O'Reilly is proposing a Blogger's Code of Conduct. On Wikia, that code of conduct is now under development. Help Tim O'Reilly and Jimmy Wales to write the draft or join in the discussion. Here's the first 6 suggested codes of conduct on that list: 1. We take responsibility for our own words and for the comments we allow on our blog. 2. We won't say anything online that we wouldn't say in person. 3. If tensions escalate, we will connect privately before we respond publicly. 4. When we believe someone is unfairly…

In recent post on their official Facebook page, Sun Cellular has announced that their postpaid subscribers can now use their account as an alternative payment option to using credit card when purchasing apps on Google Play Store. The announcement came months after Smart offered the same service for its postpaid subscribers. According to the response we got from Sun Cellular representative, the Google Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) was only rolled out last July 23 and is available for all Sun Cellular postpaid subscribers with an Android device running on Froyo and above. The Google DCB on Sun Cellular is free…

PLDT selling Globe & Sun Cellular cards

Relevance: 90%      Posted on: January 2, 2006

Just found out that PLDT has an online store. Check out PLDTOnline.com which sells anything and everything, including Globe & Sun Cellular call cards. They also allow OFWs to be able to pay PLDT bills fro their relatives here in the Philippines. It was really the Globe & Sun Cellular call and text cards that got me snickering. Well, if you can't beat them -- sell them! :D [tags]sun cellular, telco, call card, prepaid cards, digitel[/tags]

Online Advertising & the Omnibus Election Code

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: January 29, 2007

I'm no Election Law expert nor am I a lawyer trying to explain some mumbo-jumbo about the Omnibus Election Code. However, I'd like to start some discussions about online or internet advertising in relation to the upcoming May 2007 elections (looks like I'm into this election lately). First, Internet Advertising. I quickly glanced at the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines and there wasn't a section about campaigning thru the internet nor any provisions which monitors advertising online. There are specific sections on equalizing air-time among candidates on TV and radio but still none for the internet. (A side note:…

Is Sun Cellular now riding on Smart’s network?

Relevance: 88%      Posted on: March 11, 2012

I know this would not be a huge surprise since Sun Cellular is already a member of the PLDT Group but just saw a couple of days ago that Sun Cellular has upgraded its network's signal strength. It might have seem routinary but the instructions were a bit telling -- select "Smart" in the network settings. The instructions were stated like so (primarily in Tagalog). Ngayon, mula Ilocos Norte hanggang Marinduque, Isabela hanggang Mindoro, Nueva Vizcaya hanggang Albay, pwedeng-pwede mo na gamitin ang Sun para ma-contact 24/7 ang iyong pamilya, kamag-anak at barkada. Sa Sun, kumpleto na ang tawagan sa…

Sun Cellular caps 2Mbps 3G to 650Kbps

Relevance: 87%      Posted on: August 7, 2009

Several readers sent in reports that Sun Cellular is allegedly capping their 2Mbps unlimited 3G internet (Sun Wireless Broadband) to just 640Kbps. While this bandwidth capping has not been official confirmed, a number SWB users have been sharing bandwidth results from their experience that there's indeed some sort of capping going on (using Mobile Data Monitoring Application). The Sun Wireles Broadband (SWB) unlimited service has a monthly service fee of Php799 (the cheapest 3G internet service in the Philippines) for unlimited 3G internet within Metro Manila. Sun Cellular promises speeds of up to 2Mbps on their 3.5G network. Consumer reports…
