I did three TV guestings/interviews today (all about Top Tech Trends of 2011) and while I’m waiting for the 4th one this afternoon, I thought I’d ask our readers here about the best gadgets that came out in 2011.
Huawei’s very own 7-inch dual-core Honeycomb tablet, the Huawei MediaPad, was shown to members of the press earlier today. We missed the event since we’re still in transit from SG but was able to squeeze out some details like release date and retail price.

The elusive HTC Flyer made a quick stop-over at home over the week-end. It’s been out since last month although HTC Philippines did not really made any official launch event (which should have been done along with the Sensation and Wildfire S).

So it looks like the iPad 2 will be officially released in the Philippines this Friday. Now, that’s way earlier than what we expected before. Power Mac Center revealed the local launch date thru their FB page.
And misses the Philippines, again. April isn’t really that far so we might be seeing more affordable iPad2′s in the local grey market (cheaper than the 36k we’re seeing). No specific date in April was made but that should be under 30 days.
Apple has yet to release the iPhone 4 in the Philippines via its exclusive carrier Globe Telecom. Even before then, a lot has been said about this 4th generation iPhone — from the supposed antenna issues, the Retina Display, to Face Time and the modified form of multi-tasking feature. Despite the iPad not yet released by Apple in the Philippines, Globe Telecom is already offering an iPad 3G Data Plan. Together with the new micro-SIM card, get an unlimited 3G data plan for only Php999 per month.
There have been a lot of Apple iPads being sold locally but all thru the gray market with prices going beyond Php50,000 a pop. Others are waiting for the Philippine release but that has not been revealed by Apple yet.
