Contract-Free iPhone 3G to cost $599 at AT&T

iphone 3g philippinesApparently, the iPhone can still be bought without the required 24-month contract with AT&T. A recent press release from AT& reveals the iPhone 3G to be priced at $599 for the 8GB and $699 for the 16GB. These contract-free prices seemed like the same prices when the first iPhone went out. Sold or not sold?

iPhone 3G priced at $199 Worldwide

The WWDC 2008 has finally concluded (slept thru it last night after a boring start) and Apple has finally announced a brand new iPhone 3G with GPS. New features are expected but Steve Jobs realized they can’t sell more until they cut the price in half — so now it’s just $199 (with 2-year contract!), worldwide, including the Philippines.

Wash, rinse and repeat…

They say that if you have a proven and tested way of solving things, get on with it and don’t deviate from the usual approach. But what if that doesn’t solve it? Well, think outside the box. Just don’t re-invent the wheel.

See more tidbits after the jump.

MacDells: Serving OS X on a PC

What better way for Apple to gain more Mac switchers, increase its market share, and earn more revenues than by licensing the OS X? Makes sense, IMO. Besides, Apple seems to be slowly embracing Windows.

David Berlind of ZDNet thinks so too:

I’m a DigiPrint Pro

All of my digital printing jobs go straight to DigiPrint. They’re a subsidiary of LBC so if you reach the 100 print quota for every job order, you’ll receive your prints the following day via courier for free — anywhere in the Philippines.

The prints cost Php6.50 each for size 4R. I always get mine in matte with white borders.

DigiPrint Pro

One of the sales person asked me to join their free DigiPrint membership so I got this in the mail yesterday — a discount card for 10-25% on all their products and services. Not bad, huh? And to think I’ve only had about 300 prints thru them so far.

Apple iPhone finally announced

At the CES MacWorld just moments ago, Steve Jobs announced the highly speculated Apple iPhone. Looks like a sleekly iPod Nano with nothing but screen space:

iPhone

The feature that Jobs is claiming to solve the usability problem — no keypad. Just pure digital real estate. It’s currently only tied with Cingular though.

Apple iPhone

Some basic specs:

OSX operating system
3.5 inch wide screen
2 megapixel camera
bluetooth
WiFi
GSM Radio + EDGE
8GB capacity
proximity sensor (so your face won’t accidentally press the buttons)
switch from portrait to landscape screen layout
built-in speaker
run Safari browser

This thing is a little expensive — $499 for the 4GB and $599 for the 8GB. Expect the prices here in the Philippines will be more than that (somewhere around Php30k & Php40k respectively) if it will even reach the country when it ships this June.

One thing they forgot to mention was how long the battery life would be — standby time and call time.
