Canon Philippines to fix S100 lens issue

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: July 4, 2012

The Canon PowerShot S100 point-and-shoot camera is a great snapper and undeniably popular (you can see our review of the S100 here). Popular cameras fly off the shelves fast, popular cameras with manufacturing issues -- well, you know where I'm getting at. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a perfect gadget. Every now and then we encounter some problems with new gizmos, the Canon S100 is one of them. Not exactly every S100 just those with "The first and second digits of the camera's serial number are any number from 29 through 41”. For example: "29xxxxxxxxxx", "30xxxxxxxxxx" up to "41xxxxxxxxxx" --…

Canon PowerShot S100 in the flesh, first impressions

Relevance: 95%      Posted on: December 19, 2011

After months of waiting and asking around, I finally found the Canon S100 that I've been looking for. This successor to the Canon S95 may not arrive in the Philippines until 2012 so I'm glad to be able to bring the first unit home. Been looking for this since the last time I went to Singapore but did not have any luck. I am told that the local launch will still be on the first quarter of 2012 here in the Philippines (exact month still unknown). Compared to the S95, the Canon S100 is thinner and smaller although I could…

We'll look at some sample photos to give us a better perspective on how the 41-megapixel PureView technology fares against other favorites. We did not have time to set up everything but managed to take a couple of shots of the same subject using the Canon S100, Samsung Galaxy S3 to pit against the Nokia 808 PureView. I wish we had a better set up but the initial results shown here gave us a better picture. Here's a…

Canon seeds firmware updates for S100 & S110

Relevance: 80%      Posted on: February 28, 2013

Canon has recently released an incremental firmware update for both of their high-end PowerShot S-series cameras namely the S100 and its successor S110. The firmware update for both snappers bears the same version name (Version 1.0.2.0) and is said to fix the issue regarding the cameras’ control ring functions. The update also fixes the WiFi connectivity issues on the PowerShot S110 when it’s synced with an iOS device. • Fixes a phenomenon in which the focal length may not change when the control ring’s function is to control the step zoom, and the control ring is turned slowly, click-by-click. (Both…

Canon Powershot S100 Review

Relevance: 73%      Posted on: January 3, 2012

The Canon S100 is the successor to the highly popular S95 and continues the same tested and proven formula for a point-and-shoot digital camera -- wide aperture and manual control in a solid, light and portable body. Check out our full review of the Canon S100 after the jump. The Canon S95 was a best-seller for its great image quality, HD video recording, an f2.0 aperture that's good for low-lit conditions and a full manual mode very few other point-and-shoot cameras have. The Canon S100 sets that up one notch, offering full HD 1080p video capture, higher optical zoom capabilities…

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 Unwrapped

Relevance: 67%      Posted on: June 19, 2009

Lenovo's next generation netbook is now slimmer and lighter -- the IdeaPad S10-2. I got an engineering unit for a quick review so some aspects might differ from the ones sold commercially. Lenovo did some major revamps in the design and style of the IdeaPad S10. While the earlier S9 and S10 models looked business-like, the S10-2 looked more stylish with some glossy, wallpaper-pattern finish on the lid. > The IdeaPad S10-2 also has a Quick Start menu powered by SplashTop, an Instant-On Linux platform that provides quick access to most common applications such as a browser, chat , etc.…
