Relevance: 100%      Posted on: February 22, 2008

According to a report, a group of hackers at the Black Hat conference in Washington D.C. claim that they're able to hack GSM calls with equipment costing about $1,000. Until now, wiretapping over a GSM network is an expensive operation that only the military and the intelligence divisions have the money to do so. With that "Crying Baby" videos on YouTube about Jun Lozada and Joey de Venecia, looks like everybody with $1,000 cash will soon be able to afford to wiretap anyone. Technology will always catch-up but people can always avoid it. Problem with people like Gloria/Garcillano and the…

From my latest post at PTB -- Revisiting Philippine Online Payment Services, most of which I haven't heard of nor tried. Is Philippine e-commerce still suffering from quashiorkor? I hope m-commerce takes the big leap with Globe's G-Cash leading the pack. Also, Meralco's e-Bill is the kind of service local cooporations should be providing for its consumer/subscribers. It's not much now, but at least it's there for those who might need it -- like me. Apple to open Online Store in the Philippines?

Relevance: 55%      Posted on: September 30, 2008

A tip from a source close to distributors hinted that an Apple Online Store is in the works to cater to Philippine consumers. Could apple.com.ph be launching real soon? The source reveals that Apple would not allow resellers and distributors to sell any Apple products online. Apple is strict about this and violation could result to a revocation of license/rights. However, this doesn't prevent small-time sellers to offer iPods, Macbooks and other Apple products on their sites, blogs or Multiply accounts. In our region, only Hong Kong and Singapore have online Apple Stores. Maybe the demand for iPods and other…

Online news sites affecting newspaper volumes.

Relevance: 55%      Posted on: May 2, 2005

Ever since newpaper publishers went online and made their content available on the internet, I already assumed that it would someday affect the volume of their readership. I for one have long ago stopped my Inquirer subscription in favor of the online site of Inq7.net. The idea came to mind when some friends and I were discussing career opportunities with Inq7.net (seen the flash job ad on their site?),…
