T-Mobile G1 Android Phone in the Flesh

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: November 18, 2008

Managed to "borrow" one of the recently released T-Mobile G1 (a.k.a. Google Android Phone) and cooking up a full review. For the meantime, let me share some photos. The Google Phone is one of the oddest phone I've ever seen in terms of design and form factor. Even the mechanism for flipping out the keyboard is a bit unconventional. Took several shots of the phone together with the Nokia E71, iPhone 3G and Xperia X1 for some visual comparison. The G1 is indeed huge and bulky. Will be done with my review before the week ends so watch out for…

OpenFrame IP Media Phone sports an Intel Atom

Relevance: 98%      Posted on: September 25, 2008

I earlier hinted that the Intel Atom CPU could very well power a mobile phone. I didn't realize one phone manufacturer has already done it. OpenPeak today announced the OpenFrame IP Media Phone that runs on an Intel Atom processor. The OpenFrame media phone integrates voice, data, video and mobile into a touchscreen-based device. It connects to your home network via the built-in WiFi. The device can send calendar alerts and driving directions to the user's mobile; stream and play music, movie trailers and YouTube videos; and preview images or video from digital cameras or camcorders. So, okay it's not…

Modu: World’s Lightest Phone has arrived

Relevance: 97%      Posted on: September 4, 2009

At only under 43 grams, the modu phone is the world's lightest cellphone and it's now available in the Philippines thru Globe Telecom. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records, this fully functional phone is just 5 grams shy of the iPod Nano's weight. Aside from a music player, it's also a mass storage device (with 2GB internal memory). If you looked at the keypad, it doesn't seem to be the regular alphanumeric one we're familiar with. I'm curious how the navigation works. Globe will exclusively carry the distribution of the modu phone in the Philippines. No word as to…

Busted Phone, lost all contact numbers.

Relevance: 96%      Posted on: May 12, 2005

My phone just went poof yesterday. Thought was just a busted battery or something. Went back to the store where I bought it and had it replaced. Lost all 300+ of my contacts since all of them were stored in the phone's memory. Too all those who have my number on their phone book, please send me a business card sms so I can re-populate my phonebook. Thanks!

Nokia Aeon, the concept phone.

Relevance: 96%      Posted on: October 9, 2006

Just take a good look at this concept phone by Nokia, the Aeon. The entire surface is sleek and smooth -- except for the carved Nokia logo, you wouldn't think it's some sort of a mobile phone device or something. What about scratches and accidental drops? Will this be the Nokia phone of the future?

Poll: What’s your ideal 2nd phone/handset?

Relevance: 95%      Posted on: May 22, 2011

The title for best primary phone or handset is being constantly disputed by so many manufacturers -- there's the iPhone, then the best of Android, Nokia's selection and RIM's BlackBerry bet. In a country where multiple SIM is very common, the title for most-wanted secondary handset is still up for grabs. Back in the days, most people I see that uses a second phone prefer the simple and cheap candybar phones. I reckon the most important factors that determine a secondary phone would include - battery life, affordability and size or form factor. That could change though depending on the…

HTC One with Windows Phone in the works

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: June 24, 2013

For the next half of the year, it looks like HTC has a lot planned. They have the Butterfly S announced, and we are also expecting an HTC One Mini. But moreover that, it is reported that HTC has another One variant on the way - running Windows Phone OS. The device won't look exactly like the One, but will have the same aluminum body. Also, Beats Audio & UltraPixel might find a way into the phone as well. If the GDR3 update comes in time for the mentioned phone, then it might include some very impressive specs since the…

LG KU580 : So this is the real Google Phone?

Relevance: 94%      Posted on: June 22, 2007

It sure does make a good impression that LG released the cheapest 3G phone (LG KU-250) in the market. It's another thing to discover that the rumored Google Phone is actually real and LG is manufacturing it -- LG KU580. From the looks of it, there ain't much. Yeah, it's a 3G phone with a 2 inch display (240 x 320 pixel resolution), 2MP camera, a microSD card slot, bluetooth and FM radio but that's about it. Well, Google will obviously load it will all of their products like the GMail and Google Maps but you can get those with…

Modu Phone Review

You don't need to spend a lot of time with the Modu phone to realize if it's for you or not. I guess it all boils down to how it fits with your lifestyle. The first time I saw the Modu, I was a bit confused how one could comfortably use this phone with that very sparse physical keys. Turns out the phone gives you a virtual alphanumeric keypad for typing a message (reminds me of the virtual keyboard of PSP, only the Modu has alphanumeric). While most phones in the market  battle it out to be your primary mobile…
