Wasn’t able to make it to the Nokia N9 launching earlier because I was held up in Pasig RTC the whole morning. However, we were able to get a few information about the launch.
The Nokia N9 is the most interesting phone that came out of the Finnish company in years. Not only because it comes with totally different OS but also because it represents what Nokia could have become if it had done this strategy way earlier. Nokia has just posted a press release stating that the Meego-powered Nokia N9 has started shipping to stores and customers who pre-ordered it. While the shipments does not yet include the Philippines, we’re hoping it will be a matter of weeks (if not a month) before we’d see the N9 hitting local stores.
We featured an Intex phone with pico projector here a while ago. They also have a couple of really affordable, entry-level dual-SIM phones coming out.
So now it’s clear why Nokia went for WP7 instead of Android — because they’re still banking on the Meego OS and the Nokia N9 is a testament that they can still kick ass.

According to several retail stores I asked in the malls, the Nokia C3 will arrive next week and will have a price of around Php7,290 (cheapest I surveyed but there’s a sale on Saturday).
During this afternoon’s virtual event, Nokia introduced 3 new messaging devices, two of which are members of the new C-series of handsets.
According to the latest stats from Admob, the Nokia N70 still tops as the top handset used to connect to the web in the Philippines. This despite the fact that the model has already been discontinued for distribution.

Research In Motion (RIM) has been targeting the entry-level market for some time now but it wasn’t very evident until they released another qwerty smartphone, the Blackberry Curve 8520.
Research in Motion today unveiled a new and affordable version of their Blackberry Curve series. Though RIM execs could not give an estimated price (as the telcos will be the one making the final price), they say that the Blackberry Curve 8520 is their most affordable one ever.
The Nokia N97 gets a big brother. Nokia confirms the new N900, a large-sized smartphone (internet tablet) packed with features and looking even better than previous models in the same line (such as the Nokia N850).
The two new XpressMusic phones from Nokia, the 5630 and 5730, are now out and available in stores. The 5730XM was first announced last March and features a full sliding keyboard.
There been a number of evidence pointing to a smaller Nokia N97 Mini that is rumored to be formally announced this September during the annual Nokia World 2009.
