Download Opera Mini for free.

Opera takes the Free way.

Opera made the big bold move this week by offering their $29-dollar browser (version 8.5) for free. As of today, there are about 1.6 Million downloads already. It was a bit of a surprise why Opera would take the free model, but it was high time I guess. There have been reports that Opera had made a deal with Google and other big sites (like Amazon I guess) for delivering ads which is set to replace their $30 Million revenue from selling the browsers. Yup, they do have buyers -- 100,000 shelling out $30 annually. Not much but it's still…

Google buying Opera doesn’t make sense.

The Search Engine Journal says Google Opera Acquisition Rumor Makes Sense. I'm looking at it the other way around. First, if and when Google buys Opera, what will it do with its strong partnership with Mozilla (i.e. Firefox)? I guess Google will end up alienating those who are using Firefox and loving the Google Toolbar in it. Besides, their Firefox/Google Toolbar referral program is a strong indication that their support is with Mozilla. Then, they've hired Firefox developers left and right (and I think still looking for some more). Well, they did strike a deal with Opera before (which Om…

There's story spreading that Facebook is interested to buy Opera browser to create its own custom "social" browser and compete with the likes of Google, Apple and Microsoft. It's been revealed that one of Facebook's biggest challenges is in mobile (one reason why they bought Instagram), the odds are stacked against it compared to in the desktop arena. There's Google that also doing advertising (Adsense for Mobile) and has monopoly of the Android environment with its built-in browser, Apple which is also heavily pushing its own Safari browser on mobile and Microsoft with its big reach and distribution network to…

If you're starting to hate IE, Firefox, or even Chrome, there's Vivaldi -- a promising new browser that packs a sleek design and a lot of features. This browser has a lot of cool stuff under its nifty UI: You can build separate tabs for your speed dials, separating your work and personal links. Quick shortcuts can be assigned to any given set of key combinations, and you can stack your active website tabs. It built a very extensive community at its backbone, offering interaction among the browser's users. Also, it's built using the Chromium project given the small number…

Pitting a notable newcomer against a rival device is slowly becoming a tradition for us here at YugaTech. And with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, we think it’s only fair to give it the same treatment as the ones that came before it by comparing it against the fairly new HTC One Mini 2. Summary of advantages: Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini: * Thinner form-factor (9.1mm vs 10.6mm) * Lighter body (120g vs 137g) * Water and Dust proof * Slightly faster processor * 50% more RAM * Better Bluetooth chip HTC One Mini 2: * Aluminum build…

Compaq Mini 700: HP Mini 1000 redesigned

Relevance: 43%      Posted on: December 23, 2008

HP has released a strikingly similar netbook to the HP Mini 1000 in Europe -- the Compaq Mini 700. Specs are the same with subtle changes in design which includes a large Compaq logo. Maybe it's just branding for specific regions or they could be banking on Compaq as a more popular brand of sorts. Don't know why would they split the model names for similar products {via Notebook Italia}.
