So we could better see which 3g internet provider is giving us the best deals, I made this simple chart to compare postpaid and prepaid mobile 3G plans of Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular. In line with its effort to further enrich the overall buying experience of their patrons, Sony Philippines has formally opened the new Sony Centre at the Building B of SM Megamall. Present during the opening were some of the bigwigs from Sony, as well as a few distinguished guests, including Sony brand ambassadors like Pilar Tuason and Luke Landrigan. The new Sony Centre is a few notches higher than your typical concept store as it will house most of the Sony devices including Bravia 4K TVs, a slew of Alpha series cameras, and other consumer electronics like Xperia smartphones and…

iPhone vs. Blackjack vs. N95 vs. Treo 750 vs. BC 8300

Relevance: 44%      Posted on: June 19, 2007

Apple recently released a comparison chart for the iPhone pitting it against the Samsung BlackJack, Nokia N95, Palm Treo 750 and the Blackberry Curve 8300. Here's their original chart comparing wifi capability and battery life, among others. Gizmodo then reported that it was revised after Scoble corrects it adding that his Nokia N95 has wifi and comparing some more key features. I would also like to correct Apple and add that my Samsung SGH i600 (Black Jack) has wifi too! Here's what the real chart should have looked like: It's really funny when companies highlight their very best features and…

Top Smartphones with Highest Antutu Scores

Relevance: 41%      Posted on: August 23, 2015

One of the more objective ways to determine the performance of smartphones is by running them thru synthetic benchmarks. After going thru hundreds of handsets in the last couple of years and using Antutu as one of our primary tools, we thought of putting them down into a chart as basis for comparison with other handsets we will review in the future. This chart is not yet final as we gather more test results from a few more handsets but, for the meantime, we're posting it already as we add more data. Note: We have not have time to gain…

Relevance: 40%      Posted on: January 5, 2013

From collaboration to partnership, Wireless Gigabit Alliance and WiFi Alliance have recently announced that they’re no longer a separate entity rather a single organization aimed at establishing a seamless and interoperable wireless connectivity. To reach their goal, the organization is looking to utilize each other’s strengths and incorporate those to form a better wireless implementation. Their first project involves the use of the 60GHz technology which, according to Peter Cooney of ABI Research, “is an important part of the future of wireless connectivity, and a significant complement to traditional Wi-Fi networking.” Besides announcing their partnership and their plans of further…

The 7-inch UMPC Round Up

Relevance: 38%      Posted on: April 22, 2008

Someone asked to compare all the available ultra-portables in the market, especially the ones in the 7" display. So we rounded-up four UMPCs -- Asus Eee PC, Neo Explore X1, Astone UMPC and Deep Blue H1. See comparison chart after the jump. The results of the comparison chart are pretty interesting. If you don't place these cheap laptops side by side, you'll never notice which model tops the scale. Despite the unfamiliar processor in Via, the Deep Blue H1 and Astone UMPC gets you the best bang for your buck. The extra weight is obviously because of the heavier but…

PC Screen Size Trends in the Philippines

Relevance: 35%      Posted on: July 30, 2012

Saw this interesting chart during one of the product launches of Sony Philippines some time last month. It shows the trend of PC screen sizes preferred by customers based on their purchasing behavior. It shows that the 14-inch notebooks are the most popular (has been for the last 8 years) but that share is slowly thinning. The 15-inch and and the 12-inchers also used to be popular too but the chart shows they're slowing down. What's getting some traction is the 11-inch models where they used to be non-existent before 2009 but is already taking around 10% share from 2011.…

Giving Free Ad Spots to Charity

Relevance: 34%      Posted on: May 11, 2009

This has been a long time in the concept stage and I have also been doing privately for some time now. This blog is giving free premium ad spots to charitable foundations and non-profit causes. The ad spots will rotate along with the paid advertisers and will fill up all remnant inventory for the rest of the year. I thought that if I'm expecting around 6 million page views this year, I might as well send the remaining traffic as some sort of donation to sites of charities and other non-profit institutions. Compared to a single blog post that gets…
