Say Alonzo on Pinoy Big Brother

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: August 22, 2005

Last night while visiting a friend, I was surprised to hear the name "Say" as one of the housemates on Pinoy Big Brother. It immediately caught my attention and my eyes were glued to the TV for the next 8 to 10 minutes. I wasn't really interested in Pinoy Big Brothers (PBB) even with much of the hype and buzz going around. (I seldom watch TV, much more local channels.) But Say (or Sheryll Ann Alonzo Yutadco?) is there and that got me interested to the show. She's one of the (former) gals in the office. One of the prettier…

HP Pavillion vs. Dell Inspiron: Artist Edition

Relevance: 89%      Posted on: May 8, 2008

Manufacturers HP and Dell are battling it out with graffiti-influenced Artist Editions of their top tier laptops. On the left hand is an HP Pavilion dv2800t and on the right side is Dell Inspiron 1525 -- both unit are strikingly cool. Dell commissioned Brooklyn-based artist Mike Ming while HP partnered with MTV to a Design Competition last year. The winner of the contest was "Asian Odyssey" by 20 year old guy named Joao Oliveira of Porto, Portugal. Mike Ming did two designs -- "Bunch O Surfers” and “Sea Sky". Between the two, HP gets my vote.

Google promotes Pinoy porn?

Relevance: 85%      Posted on: October 13, 2005

Just saw one of the ads from Google AdSense promoting Filipino porn? Was a bit shocked that Google would allow advertising about pornography thru AdWords. I took a screenshot of the ad link units here. The ads will show if you go to one specific post I made here about Say Alonzo on Pinoy Big Brother. Just keep on refreshing the page and maybe you might see it as well. However, when you click on the link, you will get this message "Sorry! We couldn't find any ads related to your topic. Please enter another topic below." At least, there…

Pinoy Big Blogger “Experiment”

Relevance: 78%      Posted on: November 20, 2005

Yeah, everybody's calling it an "experiment". Why experiment you say? Because it's all about "wanting to see, learn, and profit" from search engine traffic for popular keywords. And Pinoy Big Brother is the word these days, and so is Ang Panday. Manolo came back with a vengence to all Pinoy Big Brother bloggers out there, wanting to help political blogs like his regain the top spots in the Philippine blogosphere. Mikey surely did gave him that impression. Benefitting from search engine traffic is not about how good you write about a certain topic, how passionate you are with the issues…

Jollibee Scandal: Mascots humping on YouTube

Relevance: 76%      Posted on: October 21, 2006

Apparently, them call center boys and girls spend a lot of their spare time on YouTube. This link was sent by one of them. I don't think Jollibee Corp. knows about this. What can I say? If I may put it eloquently in the words of Mike Abundo, this is why YouTube is huge in the Philippines. :D [tags]jollibee mascot, jollibee sex scandal, disney[/tags]

What makes it proudly Pinoy?

Relevance: 76%      Posted on: August 24, 2006

This is one of the questions that's open for debate and I'd like to solicit some inputs from everyone reading here. What makes a blog Pinoy? What makes a start-up company proudly Filipino? What makes a service trully Filipino. Here are some classic cases we sometimes see around: 1) A Blog Network owned by a group of Australians, Americans and Canadians hire Filipino writers to write for their blog. Is that blog a Pinoy blog? 2) A British guy heads to the Philippines, hires some kick-ass developers, goes to France to open his office and manages the team remotely to…

Pinoy Top Blogs 1st Anniversary

Relevance: 73%      Posted on: July 15, 2006

Today is the 1st year anniversary of the Pinoy Top Blogs Project. The very first post about it is here. The site was originally hosted here as a subdomain until Andre of Enthropia donated the domains to me a few months later. The old site now hosts a blog directory called "Philippines Best of Blogs". Here are some of the entries that discussed about the project at that time: Pinoy Top Blogs Explained What Constitutes a Blog? Dynamics of Blog Traffic in Top Pinoy Blogs Blog Ranks are Hot This was also the time when Milky Soft sent in his…

Totally iTunes for Pinoy?

Relevance: 67%      Posted on: March 1, 2007

Now, this is what I'd call purely Pinoy creativity. *heh* NoypiTunes is your iTunes for the Filipino mobile phone users. noypiTunes.com lets you personalize your mobile phone for All-Pinoy tones, images, logos and other content. Here you'll find a wide collection of top-rated homegrown music from artists like Bamboo, True Faith, and from Pinoy master rapper Francis M, downloadable as ringtones to US mobile phones. You can avail of download packages and enjoy four polyphonic ringtones for the price of one. The problem here is that the branding is just too close to Apple's iTunes that I am seeing C&D…

Pinoy Podcasts

Relevance: 65%      Posted on: October 14, 2005

Been listening to several podcasts by Filipinos both from here and abroad. Inq7.net featured most of them in a recent article here, "Filipino life, according to Pinoy podcasters". The ones I've listened to are Pinoy Podcasts and PutangInaMo.com. Inq7.net missed Live@USA.PH, which in my opinion, is among the best podcast by Filipinos out there. Oh, Mike Abundo also has one as well. Podcasting is nice, if you have the time. It requires a little bit more of an effort especially if there's more than one of you in the podcast. In any case, it adds value and stickiness to your…
