Facebook now covers violent content on your news feed

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: January 15, 2015

Facebook doesn't really allow viewing of graphic images that only have a purpose of glorifying or celebrating violence, but they do show them when they are part of news and other documentary purposes. This is no longer the case after the firm restricts viewing of sensitive content without the user's consent. Facebook has been receiving complaints from concerned groups and individuals over the past months regarding them allowing violent content to be viewed by anyone without warning. Some of these include a report last year that showed severed heads on spikes in Syria and the more recent Charlie Hebdo attack where a policeman…

Centralized Google AdSense Ad Management

Relevance: 75%      Posted on: October 24, 2007

Google just announced an upcoming change in its AdSense Program that allows Publishers to modify their ads without changing the code. The ad code management will then be centralized in the AdSense panel. This new ad management feature means that your ad unit settings (such as colors and channels) for new AdSense for content ad units will be saved in your AdSense account every time you generate ad code. Then, if you'd like to change any of these settings in the future, all you do is make the update within your account -- you'll no longer need to manually replace…

Digg 4 wants to be Twitter for News

Relevance: 68%      Posted on: August 27, 2010

The 4th version of Digg has been rolled out with several major changes in the design, front-page algorithm, and social components. The social news site has somehow transform into some sort of Twitter-like streaming of news and links. Since 2004, Digg has been a major source of breaking news and stories for me -- ranging from the oddest, funniest, and most informative collection of stories. However, thru the years, it has been invaded by power-users and power-groups that dominated majority of what comes out in the front-page. It somewhat lost it relevance so the 4th version of Digg is trying…

LG FB163 Micro Hi-Fi System

Relevance: 66%      Posted on: March 6, 2009

This LG speaker system was waiting for me when I got back home, the FB163 -- a 15-kg DVD player and sound system that's also made for the iPod. The FB163 is all black and shiny. Connects fine with most iPods including the iPhone 3G. The front panels are touchpad-controlled and looks and functions much like the clickwheel of the iPod (plus the glowing effect). The stereo system is loud and crisp, powered by two front speakers each rated at 80 watts. I have yet to play with it some more. You'll see what's my approval rating once I put…

LG LH70 42″ HDTV + Blu-ray Theater System

Relevance: 65%      Posted on: June 13, 2009

This is by far the biggest and longest unboxing I've ever done. Took me over 2 and a half hours to carefully unbox and setup this theater system -- a 42" LG LH70 Full HD TV (LG Scarlet) and a 5.1-channel Blu-ray Receiver System (HB954TB). The new LG Scarlet (model LH70) was unveiled last June 3 with sizes ranging from 32" to 47" and above. The test LCD TV I have here is 42" and only 1.56 inch thick on the side, the thinnest of all LG TVs ever. Specifications Perfect Slim 39.7mm TruMotion 120Hz Full HD (1920 x 1080)…

JBL MX100: iPod Dock and CD Player System

Relevance: 65%      Posted on: November 19, 2009

This has been in the box for about a week now and I've only gotten the chance to do the un-boxing today (lots of other stuff in the line to unbox around here). First up is this JBL MX100 which is a stereo system with an iPod Dock and a CD player in tow. See our unboxing photos after the jump. The JBL MX100 is one big-ass iPod Dock (I mean it's an 18-lbs gorilla of a music system). It's got 2 integrated speakers, each with 30-watt power rating. All I can say for now is that it's pretty loud.…

Searching Google News

Relevance: 64%      Posted on: December 28, 2006

I never realized that I'd get that much coverage after taking the helm at BlogHerald so imagine my surprise when I searched my name at Google News: Looks like BH is listed in Google News as news source. On the same page, I saw several mentions of me I didn't know about (except for the interview with the New York Times I had yesterday): The Day the Pixels Froze: When a Digital World Was Stopped by a Natural Disaster The New York Times December 28, 2006 Earthquake knocks Asia back to phone age, and beyond International Herald Tribune December 27,…
