Earlier today, we posted a story on a “Newbie Guide to Solid State Drives (SSD)” and after checking out some stores, we’ve noticed that SSD prices have slightly been reduced since the last time we checked.

Poll: Which ultrabook are you?

This year is looking to be the year of the ultrabooks. The first half of 2012 saw close to a dozen ultrabooks being launched in the Philippines. The spread is so wide that we’re seeing prices somewhere from Php30k to Php120k.

Western Digital outs 500GB, 7mm HDD for ultrabooks

Finally, Western Digital has their own 7mm thin hard disk drives that sits perfectly well with the current crop of ultrabooks. It’s not as fast as the SSDs but you get the benefits of really large and inexpensive storage — like 500GB.

We’re here today at Miniloc Island in El Nido for the launching of the Asus Zenbook in the Philippines. The official program will start this evening but we got some early whispers about the retail price.
