Internet Coverage over Internet Speed

Been in the boondocks for about a week now on a semi-vacation mode (and semi-retreat kind of way) so I’m not able to regularly publish new entries here. With a thousand miles away from mega Manila and a couple hundred more miles from the nearest city, my mountain resort hide-away is almost devoid of any internet coverage.

Busy Sked Ahead

One of the more common reactions I get when people learn that blogging can be a career is that it would be a boring thing to do. Boring in the sense that you work in your pajamas and your office is where you sleep or just too socially distant for interactions.

Well, that may be true. But there are other perks in the category of “priceless” one may not want to pass up. For JAngelo, it’s the convenience that he’s able to stay in with his kids and watch over them while working. Same is true with Connie for years now, esp, when her kids were home-schooled. Reminds me of my Microsoft (Great Plains) days when parents are allowed to bring in their kids to office and leave them play all day at the kid’s nursery/recreation room.

For me, nothing beats the guestings, talks, out of town invitations and the side-trips that come along with it. Thus, a potentially busy sked ahead.

First, there’s my TV guesting at ANC on Monday with Ricky Carandang. Another one after that with Manolo’s TV Blog Show. He’ll spill the beans when it’s time to do so. (Uy, congrats for the show, ha?)

Then, while I’m not over yet with the FNF workshop (another session on Thursday), we’ll be going to somewhere south of Luzon for a blogging talk sometime 2nd or 3rd of this month.

If all goes well, there might be another one down in Mindanao on August too. September should be the most exciting month as it’ll be my first time out of the country for a blog conference of sorts. I hope DOST has already lifted my 5-year-old no-departure ban.

Since a number of bloggers have been suggesting this to me for quite some time now, we should organize our own Philippine BloggerCon this November or December. How does that sound capping off 2006?
