Sad news for gaming fans this season of hearts: After an 11-year operation in the country, the Philippine servers of popular MMORPG Ragnarok Online shall be closed on March 31st. In a statement published on Level-Up's Website, the pRO team said that it was a difficult decision to make, noting that they have made countless milestones and hurdled all obstacles since 2003. Ragnarok Online spiritual successor coming in 2014

Tree of Savior, a spiritual successor to the popular MMORPG Ragnarok Online, is set to arrive next year and will feature 80 classes and sprite-based character models. A tip from a source close to distributors hinted that an Apple Online Store is in the works to cater to Philippine consumers. Could apple.com.ph be launching real soon? The source reveals that Apple would not allow resellers and distributors to sell any Apple products online. Apple is strict about this and violation could result to a revocation of license/rights. Yesterday, an ad executive told me that the estimated online ad spending in the Philippines is pegged at 0.5% of total annual spendings. I couldn't believe it at first but a quick research pointed me to some more revealing numbers. A recent story from ABS CBN News points to a Nielsen study that radio had the biggest increase in media spending with 26% for the first half of year 2008.
