Canon Philippines to fix S100 lens issue

Relevance: 100%      Posted on: July 4, 2012

The Canon PowerShot S100 point-and-shoot camera is a great snapper and undeniably popular (you can see our review of the S100 here). Popular cameras fly off the shelves fast, popular cameras with manufacturing issues -- well, you know where I'm getting at. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a perfect gadget. Every now and then we encounter some problems with new gizmos, the Canon S100 is one of them. Not exactly every S100 just those with "The first and second digits of the camera's serial number are any number from 29 through 41”. For example: "29xxxxxxxxxx", "30xxxxxxxxxx" up to "41xxxxxxxxxx" --…

Where to have your iPhone’s broken LCD fixed?

Relevance: 92%      Posted on: October 14, 2011

I dropped my new iPhone4 straight on the pavement a couple of weeks ago and it suffered a hairline crack at the top corner of the LCD display. It wasn't noticeable at first but soon became more prominent after I added a screen protector (yeah, too late). Anyway, I went to iFixit last night and looked for an LCD replacement kit. The kit alone only costs $149 (not bad) and including the shipping to the Philippines, it was still all under $200. So I decided to visit Greenhills today and check if maybe there's a repair shop there that could…

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: May 19, 2006

We've discussed the issue of how to tag blogs as Pinoy for a localized search with Migs, I suggested that Technorati tagging could be a good method to approach the problem. The same solution could be used for identifying the Philippine's Technorati Top 100 here. But not everyone is subscribed to Technorati and not all Filipino bloggers are using "Philippines" as one of their tags. Take a look at this: Blogs about: Philippines on Technorati. It already ranks blogs that has the tag "Philippines" on their profiles. As of now, tehcnorati has tracked 598 blogs about "Philippines" and you can…

What will happen to Sony-Ericsson Philippines?

Relevance: 83%      Posted on: February 22, 2012

Now that Sony has finalized the buyout of Sony-Ericsson, the new handset company will be named Sony Mobile Communications. So what happens to the folks over at Sony-Ericsson. I happen to talk to one executive from the company who gave me some possible scenarios. I am told that Sony-Ericsson Philippines will eventually be dissolved and Sony Philippines will take over the mobile phone brand. As for the folks from SE Philippines, they will all be invited to move and work for Sony Philippines under the mobile handset division. What we're not sure is if the GM and some of the…

Twenty-four hours later, over 7 Million downloads were made for Firefox 3 worldwide surpassing the 5M target by Mozilla. In comparison, Opera 9.5 had 4.7 million downloads in its first 5 days after the June 12 release. In the South East Asian region, the Philippines contributed over 26,000 downloads. What's surprising though is that among the SEA countries, Vietnam took the top spot with close to 34,000 downloads. For a small and upcoming country, Vietnam sure does made an impression in the IT circles. Here's the rundown of the rest: Vietnam - 33,863 Singapore - 27,397 Malaysia - 27,156 Philippines

In the latest report by InternetworldStats, the Philippines took the #10 spot with the most number of internet users at 14 Million, just 900k lower than Malaysia at #9. As for internet penetration, the Philippines is still way down the line, esp. in South East Asia: Japan: 73.8% South Korea: 70.7% Hong Kong: 69.5% Taiwan: 67.2% Malaysia: 59% Singapore: 58.6% Macau: 51.6%…

Philippines 4th on AdMob Global Ad Traffic

Relevance: 79%      Posted on: May 2, 2009

In April 2008, the Philippines was just at #7 for mobile ad traffic as measured by AdMob. Went on to become #5 by August last year. This March, it's already at #4. Though there's practically zero growth from the previous month, the Philippines still surpassed the United Kingdom taking 3.9% of the total ad requests delivered by AdMob. We're still pretty far behind Indonesia and India though. Still, this is a good sign that mobile consumers in the Philippines are surfing the web thru their mobile phones. On the same report, the top 20 handsets list is dominated by Nokia,…
